I think I finally figured out my 58mm. It requires a +18 on my D810 which seems crazy.
Does anyone know if its possible to send the lens in to Nikon and get it corrected?
Feels like coming home. Just have to get used to the speed coming off the D4. I think from here on out I'm going to specifically seek out refurb'd Nikon stuff. I've owned multiple copies of lenses, many refurb'd and the refurbs are ALWAYS better. This DF seems to be no exception, it's not struggling on the outer points at all. Threw on the 58, which is also refurb'd, and it's dead nuts on wide open at all distances.
$1697 refurb w/ 40 clicks from a Nikon dealer. Zeiss 135 comes tomorrow. I r xcite

Doesn't make sense to send it off for a costly repair if you "figured out" what it needs for your D810.

i wouldn't bother. you have to pay for lens shipping and insurance and be without the body for a while. if it works at +18, then it works.
I don't normally mess with the fine tune settings for my lenses. I would prefer to avoid sending it in but if I have fine tune on for the 58mm at +18 and then switch to a lens that is not setup in fine tune does it still apply the +18?
I noticed it still shows on when I put a different lens on and it would be a pain to have to turn it off every time I switch lenses.

the fine tuning number is lens-specific.
X2. The camera remembers the values for each lens that you adjust. Put on another lens and it forgets or matches a prior input value. I have 4 lenses saved in my Df for all my primes. Once I mount any of those lenses afft recognizes them and applies them accordingly. Not too hard to figure out and test.
