Wow, nice pictures! Will pick up a sample from Nikon Monday to play a little with during the holidays and decide if I want to buy it for my professional work. I even feel like I want to use it in the studio to get closer to my models. Anyone using the 58mm in the studio? Will lose the magic factor, but still glorious 58mm (my 55mm is so close to perfect for studio work except for AF).

Did someone say studio? Our photographer simply sucked so I had to retake pictures of my wife.
Here is one of them from the studio. Will post more later (wide open shots)

Originally planned on selling my 58 and picking up the Otus 55. I am so glad my 58 didn't sell. I've had the Otus for several days now and while it may indeed be an amazing lens, it's not for me. Planning on keeping my 58 for a bit longer... Otus is being returned...

What didn't you like about the Otus?? Manual focus not for you??
Maybe my expectations were too high for the Otus. I took side by side photos - on a tripod - and the difference was minimal at best. Now, granted, I will say that this is my first manual focus lens and it could be partially my fault as well. The photo(s) I took were a night shot with lights leading up to the building. The Otus has purple fringing (CA?) around the lighting - something I thought they mentioned was better on this lens. The 58 had it as well but held its own IMHO. Not worth the price of admission.
Where could I host the NEF file if anyone was interested? I made a side by side comparison and it weighs in at 410mb. No editing was done.
Dunno, it might be user error. Fully willing to admit that but I think I would end up selling it in the long run so I am going to return it while I have a window.

Both photos were taken on a tripod. No editing - other than enlarging the original photos canvas size so I could place the second one next to it. Not sure if that was the best way to do it or not for a side by side comparison.

Yes, that makes sense if that is possible. Where I live it is normally not possible to return lenses (or other products) when they are used.
EDIT: I looked at your pictures. It is LoCa IMO. I am a surprised that there is hardly a difference between the 2 lenses here (I suppose both were shot wide open), because tests like below show that the 58 normally has much more LoCa than the Otus.
Yes, both were shot wide open. No arguments that the Otus is a great lens but my 58 held its own, at least for the price. Granted I should, ideally, do several more tests but I am not going to risk my return window.

Congratulations
Another willing Model for you then
I'd go with #1
