Great shots everyone. This community/thread is really growing! Awesome to see all the new peeps picking up this lens.
I hope to see more wedding photographers use this lens...
I know I posted a similar shot before but as I was just editing this wedding, I came across this image. The faces of those kids are priceless! Focus missed by a little but who cares. This lens is soft as is, ...ahem

Didn't you end up returning the lens?
I'm on my 3rd copy now which is extremely well calibrated and sharp. However, I'm about to list it for sale -- after shooting my bro's wedding last weekend it looks like every wide open shot in bright day light lacks contrast and has tons of veiling

My old 50mm f1.4G did that, that is why I sold it to fund my 58mm.

I think you're just trying to find ANY reason to get rid of this lens just because it's so expensive... The 58G really is the king of all 50's... Most people don't like it because of 1) price 2) not enough subject isolation (ahem, Jason), which is why they end up with an 85mm f/1.4G.

can you post a sample? youve been posting some really nice shots recently...
No seriously, 58G is a top of the line AUTOFOCUS "50mm" that is AFFORDABLE that is F/1.4 for NIKON!
Affordable can be debated. The jump from the $200 50mm F1.8g to the 58mm F1.4g may be exactly the same for some as the jump from the 58mm F1.4g to the Leica Noctilux 50mm F0.95.
The Otus is also another great contender as the best 50-58mm focal length.
But like Iluxa, they are not AF lenses so they are not useful for me like the 58mm is.
No point about sharpness if I cannot get pictures of my kids in focus while they can not stay still for one second. Sharpness is nothing if a picture is not perfectly in focus...
