This lens is amazing. One of Nikons best.
I'm going to have to pick it up some day.
So very true. I have been waiting/hoping for one to appear in the pre-owned inventory of a large, pro-oriented camera store. I have, for a number or years, regularly bought pre-owned lenses, many from this store. Even though focus can be micro-adjusted, I have always like the idea of buying lenses that are already accurate, on my cameras. Sooner or later, however, I am probably going to order a 58G.
The one 58G that I did see, pre-owned, at this store, was when I tested it on a D700, upon which it focused beautifully accurately. Because I used a D700, it was before February 2018. (I still have the D700, but would have tested any prospective lenses on my newer cameras, as I added them, in 2018.)
There are buildings in Paris that are really out of the ordinary and the police hotel in the twelfth arrondissement is one of them.
The building is decorated with thirteen identical statues. This statue is of Michelangelo's dying slave.
The quality of the image from this lens is very special. As others have said, it takes a little time to understand the qualities, but time well spent. I have only used it for a travel lens and have enjoyed the handling so far.

Vlad, thank you so much for your kind words, and just as your posts have shown, this is a special lens with many talents. I was able to find a very good copy just before we left on an overseas trip, and boy am I glad to have it with me.
