I like these above shots a lot, first think I notice is how they are dressed and it's neither typical formal nor typical American (no pun intended) then how beautiful is this lens rendering even in such light conditions.
Bravo!
Thanks! Ya, it's hard to put this lens in a situation where the rendering isn't appealing.

Great shots Corey!!! It is amazing how just slightly stopping the 58G down how its personality changes.
Thank you Charles! I agree, very different personality when you stop it down.
It's quite sharp stepping down to 1.8 for close up. I found if a little further even 1.4 is sharp enough. But then the main appeal for this lens is the rendering pleasant images like the above members has indicated and not aim at super sharp.
@hardcore the lens is much better now with the eye focus. Prior to that the face only focus seem always on the further eye. I am shooting my 1.5 yr old so even auto continuous single point focus is not an option for me in most occasions The eye focus firmware made it so much easier to take good photos of my daughter.

I owned it 3x lol
so that means the 85 1.4g would be super sharp then? on z6 at 1.4?

Thank you for mentioning this. I just picked up the Z6 and I'm running the old firmware, I wanted to see what it felt like prior to the update. The first lens I slapped on it was the 58mm and I experienced what you noted above, it often focuses on the far eye. Maybe the update will help me as well.
Another frame from the Renaissance Festival... Not sure what instrument he is playing and whether or not, it does match the proper era, but his cool sunglasses certainly don't
