Some great photos guys. I have not been able to post off late because got a huge backlog of about 1600 photos (!) to process from a wedding in family. But Christmas market is in town and I need to get me some of that swirly christmas light bokeh action!
Just out of curiosity, those of you who are using the 58 and 105 (1.4), what is the work division between them? I save about 1300 odd quids on new laptop ( by not buying the model I was planning and getting the new Alienware 13 OLED!) and think I can manage the 105. I have been loving the shots in the other thread and it is becoming hard to resist...
The 35mm 1.4G is truly a great sharp lens, with beautiful colors. U can come close and have no great distortion like the 24mm. And have a greater Bokeh then the 24mm or the 35mm 1.4 from sigma. I use the 24mm 1.4 with the 58mm in smaller places, or to have a wide shot outside. Otherwise, i use the 35mm 1.4g with the 58mm or 85mm 1.4g as a combo. It works for me.
Guys, I'm looking to get a 35mm f/1.4G. While @DJ R failed to talk me out of it, maybe someone else can?
Tell me my 28G/58G/105E combo is enough for me!

All the best with your chronic gas
Imagine me saying this?

Having the 28 and 35 is a weird problem. I have the 28 f/1.8G & 35 f/2. It feels absurd having both, but I can't really decide which to get rid of. For now, they both stay...but I'd probably be just fine with either one.

I had a thought of selling the 28G after acquiring the 35 because I already have a 24-70G (Which I will never get rid of)
Try the 35A instead of the 35G. It's cheaper, sharper, has more contrast, and has that "feel" that people can't test or describe well. It's better in all regards imo, it just doesn't have the Nikon "gold ring"
105mm E is not designed by Sato, but 35mm and 58mm is. Rendering from 35mm 1.4G is truly special as the 58mm. These two lenses are my favorite lenses.
The 35mm 1.4G has that special "something" - character - that makes it a remarkable people photography lens. Elijah, I can wholeheartedly recommend it!

Yes he did. He was the project leader, and the designer up to Design development. Fabrication documentation was by other person ( Masahi Yamashita) . It is up to how one interprete design process. Concept and design development came from Sato, to me, that is Satos's design executed by Yamashita.

What you missing in the 28 that the 35 can give you? I love my 28, although the focus shift when stopped down can be a pain sometimes...

No, you just need it. It's a great lens. Sold my siggy 35 for it and i'm happy. Frontal light is much better with the G. With the siggy it gets milky so fast.
Then the weather sealing...
