It's baaaaaaaack and it's working awesome again. Too bad I didn't notice the DF was put into jpeg.... I even checked my AF settings and stuff to make sure they didn't do a reset, didn't think to check if I was shooting raw or not.
Nice shot dude... I'm having DF withdrawals...
I see Joseph is spying on us... I bet he misses his 58mm

I love the combo 24mm 1.4 with the 58mm 1.4g. Also the 35mm 1.4g with the 85mm 1.4g are great as combo.
Here some examples from a last wedding i shot. same place with two bodies with the two lenses.
The 58mm continues to get a nice workout at the CrossFit gyms. Now adding a 85/1.4G to the 24mm/58mm f1.4 combo.
But - since dual shooting the 24 and 58.....most of my keepers tend to be aligned with the 58mm. Focuses faster, perfect perspective, and the OOF area is more pleasing. Curious on what the 85 brings to this duo.
Well...with the CrossFit Open currently going on now and will be lasting another three weeks....just some more time to showcase the capabilities of this lens in low-light and tight conditions.
So - until I get portraits and such moving here in early spring...I'll be focusing on other venues like CrossFit.

Just picked up a Df to use as a third body at weddings and as a personal general use camera (sold my fuji stuff to fund it) and man is the 58 so much crisper on the Df than it is on the D750 or D810. Both of those other bodies have been micro adjusted too. But from the second I popped the 58 on the Df the sharpness was something I never had on the other bodies without sacrificing the bokeh or feel. Do you think because the higher resolution FF cameras "out-resolve" the 58 since it's designed for bokeh and character as opposed to absolute sharpness. Not that I care about absolute sharpness, just something I'v been curious about is all.

Dude... I thought you sold that thing?
Nice shot! Speedlight?
Thanks buddy.... Yeah I couldn't live without it, so I got me another one I also just got the Rovelight 600 (which I used in the picture), amazing light for the money. I actually sold my Profoto B1's since I am not using them all that much.
Trying to keep this thread alive... Lately i've been shooting weddings at f/2, especially inside where there is no interesting background inside...
But I kinda wish I'd shoot this particular shot at f/1.4G though... the foreground would've shined better!
Here's a picture from a hiking session. I have an engagement session coming up soon and plan on using this lens for the majority of the session. Anyone have any tips for using this lens for engagement photos!?

1) Shoot them using rule of thirds
2) Try to find interesting OOF foreground elements as well as an interesting OOF background.
3) Shoot at f/1.4 of course
I would suggest using the center point & recompose for highest accuracy.
Set your AF to AF-ON only, use that to focus, release, recompose and fire away.
