Haven't had as much time with this lens(or my camera) as I'd like lately, but I happened to have my gear with me today while on Queen Anne hill during sunset. I had to be a little sneaky to get this one, but I chatted with them afterward. Nice fellas!

Ive still got a D700 so I guess I should take them for a spin together, thats some good praise for the DF 58 Combo, as I always really liked what you produced with the 610 (with any lens)
I can't decide whether to look for a good 2nd hand DF or hold out a while and see if Nikon does release an update.
The only catch with the 610 is the control layout. I'm constantly reaching for buttons that aren't there. When using the DF, the form factor is so different that my brain knows not to even try.
Wow. I believe this is my next lens! For the past 2 months, I've read reviews and compared images of the Sigma 50 1.4 ART and the 58 1.4G and it looks like the 58 just produces much better and more 'magical'(lol) looking bokeh. Not sure if it's my new eye glasses or monitors at work (and at home) but in every page in this thread, the 58 1.4G images are just amazing.
Repair total for 58? $15. They couldn't find anything wrong and they threw it on a bunch of different test fixtures. However, the DF is having a litany of adjustments being made "adjust front body alignment, adjust AF, adjust synchronization" so I'm guessing my original hunch that it was the DF is correct. I guess I just hate this lens on the D610 lol.
Total damage? $165. Now granted, the could open the DF up and find more wrong, but here's to hoping...
I just hope this damn combo works as beautifully as it once did.
I got my 58mm back a couple weeks ago and my DF is still with Nikon pending parts.
Oddly, the original quote to fix my 58mm's changing AF adjustment numbers was $450 since I didn't have a proof of purchase. They said they needed to do major work that might include things like replacing the AF motor.
I convinced Nikon to do the work under warranty for free and when I got the lens back, the work was just a simple AF adjustment and cleaning. I asked Nikon why they changed their assessment after I confirmed the work and they said the lens didn't need all the originally-suggested work.
I'm still testing my lens to see if it works better than before.
My DF repair cost is also about $165 and it's supposed to just be a check/clean and grip replacement. We'll see what actually gets done.

For APS, I think I need to be a professional photographer versus someone who just buys a ton of expensive gear to take pictures of my kids
Back from 2 weeks of vacation. Lots of great photos posted here since I've been gone!
My beer on the beach photo series continues. Set this Dos Equis a little close to the small waves but was able to take a photo and save the beer before it fell over. Win win!

Corey, your kids are darling. Based on #4 (and your many earlier posts), they seem unusually harmonious for siblings. Or do you bribe them on some regular schedule.
