bahaha you almost got me for a sec. I really did, indeed, slow down... Insanely work a lot and remodeling my house... Plus the weather in the negative double digits? naw, I'll stay inside
I'll post some stuff soon...
Brooks has been slackin' too. Wonder if he sold the mini chub...
Hell no I haven't sold it! It's sitting in a box waiting to go to APS
Our newborn is a handful, our daughter now tries taking the camera from me every time I get it out, and it's cold and miserable out. I've just been using the 85/35/24 a lot lately.
I don't check the board nearly as often since it has slowed to a snails pace
Fantastic image. Just as a matter of interest Elijah, how many, and which cameras do you carry for these events, and what lenses do you typically use on each?
Looks good man! Perfect moment to close the aperture a bit.
Had the chance to do a family session in the snow! This was shot at f1.4. I think the super shallow depth of field actually creamed up the snow too much. Probably another moment when stopping down a little bit may have been beneficial.
I know the 58mm is was not designed to be a sports lens....but since that's my center of gravity for now....I do enjoy the f1.4 aperture.
Anyways - some more CrossFit pics from another local competition. Yes - I know it's not a wedding or family session...but all these are at f1.4 which I'm really starting to like coming from the f2.8 world.
Thanks for looking.
I did shoot this meet mainly with the 58 and my newly acquired Nikkor 24mm f1.4...which I need to relook the focus situation due to the many OOF shots

58G is such a great tool for subject isolation. Keep these types of shots comin

Whelp, 58 and DF are on their way to APS. I'm so freaking excited to have them back and working perfectly again. I miss this damn lens so much.
Thats a combination Ive been keen to try, Ive read quite a few comments about how well they work together.
gutted I shouldn't really stump up for DF right now

It's the fat pixels! D700/D3/D3s MAY get a similar look, but the DF/D4 have a bit better dynamic range that adds just enough pop.
The high MP bodies are good if you're using the 58 to mimic medium format. All the pixels help hold perceived sharpness, but I definitely prefer the 58 on my DF over 610.

Ive still got a D700 so I guess I should take them for a spin together, thats some good praise for the DF 58 Combo, as I always really liked what you produced with the 610 (with any lens)
I can't decide whether to look for a good 2nd hand DF or hold out a while and see if Nikon does release an update.
