Another attempt to balance in with a few non-portrait shots. Although some of these street type shots are really sort of portraits anyway, just candid ones...

This one is f7, so feel free to disregard, but the shallower DOF attempts just didn't work at all here. Even here, though I love the little bokeh balls toward the back of the shot...

With decent weather - I had another opportunity to work with another family this weekend as I continue to work on other photo venues besides sports.

Really had a fun time with this family and even though we only shot for about 40 minutes....I was able to try some different things comprising of posing as well as gear. Did not utilize the 58mm much during this session....I opted to try the flexibility aspects of zooms which gave the 24-70 and 70-200 the nod for most shots.

However - after going through my shots...I wish I opted to stay with the 58/1.4 and 85/1.4 combo because the extra couple stops would have helped with diminishing light. Still in search of that DOF/f-stop sweat spot for my lenses.

Here are two from the 58mm.

Havana, Cuba!

By far the coolest city I have ever seen. Wish I had more than a day here as I could have spent weeks photographing this city of 2.5 million people.

I used to love wide angle for city shots but found the focal length of the 58mm to be awesome.

Looks like he's from Canada, from where you could travel freely to Cuba and back over the years. Lot of US folks who wanted to go just went through Canada and requested not to have their passports stamped in Cuba so they didn't get hassled getting back into the States. And now that relations have been restored, I think anyone from the US can go, can't they? Or is there an upcoming date where travel restrictions will be lifted, but haven't been yet? I thought it was pretty wide open now, because I keep hearing from people who want to go while Havana still looks like Havana and before it gets completely modernized...

Hey Everyone,
Haven't posted in a while (Bi Polar can render photography as interesting as a tax return)
Just thought I'd a share few images to try and wake up again. Hope you find something of interest.

Yup, as Ray said Canada but as far as I know, things will start opening up to U.S. residents in Jan.

Ya, I'm wonder if it will truly get modernized and how fast. That is why I wanted to go though, especially to Havana. Didn't want to take a chance not seeing the old vehicles.

If been there in 2006 and at that time Castro was still in charge (more or less).
If you have a chance to go, go there as soon as you can. It's a really beautiful country with very warm people. They have almost nothing and they're still willing to share.
I was sitting in a cab with the year of manufacturing as I am (1956); boy that car looked much better.
It was in my Canon time, so no images (you can find them on my website).

I'll check them out. I have quickly made a couple exposure posts. Still need to edit the wording but you guys can take a look at a few more images if you want (much larger).

I don't mean to make light of a very serious condition with which I am familiar, but thankfully only tangentially. But I'd have to say you appear to have access to the type of subject matter that would help pull one out of the darkness and into the light if external stimulation plays any role at all!

Very well done shots - please keep 'em coming!

Hi Ray,
Thank you for your comment,
I took these images back in October and I have only just got round to having a look at them, its hard to even bother processing images sometimes, it has just as much interest as doing the laundry?

I wish I could say that the subject matter helps, but in truth it makes no difference. Maybe I'll like the pictures at some point, but for now I share them as others might like them and as a way of just joining in.

As I said to someone recently "If I only ever did things I enjoy I'd never do anything"

I appreciate the encouragement and I'll continue to share, there are images in D810 and 200 F2 threads

Thanks again.

Rob
