Congrats!! I really want an 85mm f/1.4G now. Don't want to sell my 58G either but I'm closing on a house next month, can't spend money lol
Thanks, my 85g comes tomorrow lol. My closing will be early October. Building a new house is such a fun process to go through
I had a quick go at calibrating my 58 this evening... Not enough light for FoCal, so tried it manually with the Spyder Lenscal and +17 is about where it seems sharpest on my body. That's quite an extreme adjustment! But at least within the available range of adjustments. Will see if there is any noticeable improvement in sharpness.

Buy the Sigma 85 and save money, seriously, you'll like it. The cost savings will make you feel less dumb for having two expensive lenses so close together. That's what I did

Fun?
When our house was built, I was there everyday checking everything. The only fun part was when subcontractors thought I was the foreman.

Well its about 19 miles from my house 1 way so I go up about 2 times a week to check progress. Getting ready for the drywall stage now lol.

Hmmm. Tempting.
Or wait till the 85 RAT comes out, the older version will be even cheaper.
Jason you should teach workshops to momtographers. You could make a fortune!!! Your daughter is going to have the best slideshow ever at her wedding rehearsal!
This thread is so full of win. Are people done calling this lens soft? I just went back through several pages and I don't see anything that seems soft to me. I bet you could post a thread and say "look at this shot from my new Sigma 50 Art" and 95% of the viewers would fall for it.
Shot a wedding this weekend and in the hussle and bussle my 58 fell out of my arms and onto the lovely concrete. Has nice battle damage on the front barrel. the Lens hood was NOT on. I thought for sure the lens would be destroyed..
I then saw the glass was ok, it did not rattle and put it on and thought for sure it would be soft or not focus... so i took a few shots @ 1.4 in low light high ISO with lo contrast to test out the AF abilities and it still was sharp at various points..
Guess i really got lucky with that one I was fully prepared to throw on the 50 1.4 ART as I carry it as a backup for just in case. It does have nice battle damge

I see two outcomes with that:
1) I go on blood pressure medicine
2) I start doing boudoir shoots and my wife beats me

OUCH!
I dropped my 58G on asphalt last year. All it did was just bounce off and made a little tiny nick on the body itself I was REAL lucky with that one.
