I'm really digging how the 58 and D750 feel together. They balance very nicely much how I felt the Df/58 did when I rented the pair months ago. I need to get out and shoot in much better lighting, though and this time bring my memory card as well. Love what you experienced owners are doing with this thing. First one is F2 the other WO.
Stuff like this shows the nice separation you get with your subject and the surrounding environment. Nice post work as well. Your subject shows great depth, nice work on getting her in the light.
Holy shit did I wish I still had the D4 the entire time I shot this. Ambient was somewhere around 1/60, f/1.4, ISO3200. The freaking dance floor lights constantly changing brightness and direction made metering a nightmare. I finally said screw it and expose just enough for ambient to bring out the colors from the floor lights. I had a SB900 and SB700 on stands in opposing corners.
FYI, Latin dancing is insane. I stopped down just so I had a chance of getting them in focus.

Jason - the D4 because of focusing in poor lighting or focusing on the fast Latin dancing? Nice work!
Both I guess
The D4 would have struggled, there's no doubt, but it would have been better than the DF in this situation. I wound up in 21 point dynamic because anytime a gap opened between them, AF would shoot to the wall behind them. The only thing the DF was doing that the D4 would have done better is speed. The DF was hitting focus fine, but no where close to the D4 raped ape style of focusing.
I run with a group of badasses every Friday night in Central Park. We are on a year and three month streak, I believe. PM, if you are interested in joining. I'm in the first photo on the left.

I took my son along with the 58 to our local Police Dept Open House today. Here are a few random shots...
Frankly, I am beginning to like this lens more than I thought I would, and I seem to be using it more often than the Sigma 50/1.4 ART. Of course, if I know I will be in a situation where I would want absolute wide open sharpness, I would still reach for the Siggy. For everything else around the normal focal length, including even most of our newborn shots, the 58 has become our go-to lens over the past few weeks.
