<edit> Tribute to Shawn's self portrait.... I think you used the 58mm wide open... could be wrong. Used my little dude to set my lights for a quick headshot I had to do this afternoon. I might have to start strobing wide open with this lens more often!
Have to work a bit more on getting my son to stop acting crazy as well

Nice shot.
It is a pity that 58 has a 72mm filter thread (and not 77mm). When I shoot with strobe(s), even at minimum power settings, I cannot seem to ever shoot wide open unless I use an ND filter, and all our ND's are 77mm. And I am often too lazy to deal with step up rings and thus end up using another lens!

Ya, didn't think I'd be able to pull it off but I was shooting the B800 with my 64" PLM at min power. I could never do that outdoors though as 1/250th is not nearly enough to cut the ambient and therefore you need an ND filter for sure.

See, that's what I'm most worried about. The ceremony starts at 4pm....outdoors. It's going to be near impossible to avoid racoon eyes.
You're too worried about raccoon eyes, technical details, etc etc. just shoot and enjoy! Remember, groomsmen want moments. Brides want details. LOTS OF DETAILS. One bride almost killed me because I barely took any shots of the flowers. I remember that's when I lacked taking images of details. Now they're insanely excited when they see lots of detail shots. Even the stupidest stuff, shoot it! look for moments during ceremony, reception, especially all the stupid things kids do. I love capturing those. Notice what is going on.

Haha, I got that on lock because my wife is the maid of honor so I know all the "details" in the decorating so I already have plans for all of them. I'm not worried about any of what you just listed, I'm confident I can handle that stuff. I'm worried about the light and only the light, like the arbor casting a hard shadow on them. If the light is bad, I hope they like B&W
Edit - It sounds like you guys have confidence in me, so I shouldn't worry I guess
To my eyes, the Sigma looks better/sharper in every photo. I'm definitely not seeing a $750 justification in going with the Nikon.
EDIT: Please don't read my post in a negative tone, I just wanted to provide my opinion on the photos that were posted. I am just a hobbyist and am not in a position to buy either lens...it's highly possible I have no idea what I'm talking about.
