We're such late bloomers. Finally started blooming around a week or two in my backyard. Nevertheless, excited for some weddings coming up... 58G will be tired by the end of this year for sure.

Not going to lie, used the Zeiss 135 a lot more than the 58 for these shots. It's hard as hell photographing my wife, so it didn't last long
Sweet shots. Heck, if i had a Zeiss 135, I'd definitely use that more for these type of shots.
What tripped me up the most with the 58 is the meter was reading the scene completely different with the 58 vs the 135 & 85. The 135 & 85 were consistent, the 58 it wanted to expose for the highlights about half the time. I'm going to guess it's because the 58 was the only Nikon lens I was using.
Over the past couple of days I've made my way through this ENTIRE thread. And I'm really impressed with the rendering of this lens. Developing more than a little bit of gear lust. But when I'm honest with myself, I just don't use these "neutral" focal lengths nearly enough to justify spending this kind of money on what would be an extreme specialty lens for me. My kids are grown and I think I'm a few years from having grandkids, so I just don't do a lot of the kind of shooting this lens excels at. I tend to shoot at the wide-ish end (20-28) most of the time for street and landscape and scenics, and then I jump straight up to portrait length glass (85 through about 150) for family candids around the holidays and at other family and friend get-togethers. And for more compressed landscapes and stuff.
If I was posing subjects and getting in a bit closer, it would be one thing, but I so rarely do this kind of shooting. I have a 50 f1.4D that I got for next to nothing used, and sometimes it comes in handy. But unless I start using that a lot more than I do, I can't begin to justify this beautiful 58. Maybe in a few years if my daughters start having kids. But for now, it's been a really enjoyable trip through this thread. There's some incredible work here - huge respect for some of the regulars showing their work here...
