If the adapter works flawlessly on the A7R, It might be a good idea to buy all Zeiss lenses in Canon EF mount. That way, if Canon comes out with a decent body in the future, the lenses will still be useable.
Do you realize what it cost to buy all the ZE lenses And most people need a few AF lenses also.
Well, I certainly envy you guys your Zeiss glass! Have to say I am looking forward enormously to reading reviews of how well Canon and Nikon glass does adapted to the A7. Its a matter of wait and see till then.

I did not mean all of them. I mean all the ZE lenses you buy.
AF performance with the adapter isn't looking good and there are no native mount lenses that I am particularly interested in (the 55mm f1.8 is about it) so I'm cooling towards the A7 bodies now. If Sigma bring their 35 and 85 to the FF E Mount my interest will perk up again. I'm quite interested to see what this new retro Nikon brings as well, although 16MP @ $3000 isn't likely to interest me unless it has stellar ISO performance. (all rumoured details).
I am thinking A7r + FE55f1.8 and EF converter for my ZE21mm and all EF lenses. I will keep 1Ds2/5D2 for non static AF and dump the rest of canon bodies. Hopefully canon will have my canon 1Ds2/5D2 replacement in a year or two.
I've got a 1Ds2 to replace as well (I've already decided to sell the 7D shortly), I rarely shoot anything static so was hoping the A7 AF would be decent. It's still early days though so I look forward to seeing all the reviews just in time for Christmas

The 5D III was that replacement for non-static images. Are you waiting for a 5D IV?

I agree about the AF performance with the adapter. It's still interesting for manual focus lenses.
And yes those Sigma lenses would be great
The early web images from the A7r suggest to me that (paired up with the best Canon, Nikon, Zeiss and Leica glass) we now have the absolute go-to landscape camera.

It's the versatility that is compelling that's for sure!

Interesting video about RAW-files from the A7 / A7R.
Don't let Sony's horrible image processing fool you. The original RAW files are awesome!
I be honest to take the Sony's horrible jpg images that shown here ( https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1247661/17#11890240 ) than working with my latest canon files. I want to go back the 5Dc and 1Ds2 colors which sony is currently offering with better ( Resolution + DR). Imo, A7(r) is the best 5Dc upgraded that we have missed for a long time.

For you! Plenty of us actually need a great functioning AF for our photography, we don't just shoot static scenes or portraits. The best sensor in the world won't help if the AF isn't up to scratch. 5D + A7R sensor still wouldn't be used as much as my 5D III for most of my work. But hey, for macro, landscape and architecture, hell yeah give me the A7R for sure. But if I were travelling say to Africa for Safari and I could only take one camera, it wouldn't be the A7R, it'd be the crappy 5D III. Because I could use it for everything, yes god forbid even for landscape. I don't think the A7R would be getting me too many keepers of the cheetah chasing down an antelope for example, unless I videoed the whole thing.

Agree although I think the Africa example was poor. 99% of the time the animals just sat around, sometimes they were laying in the same spot eight hours later, and one could even do 10x zoom manual liveview AF

After 5D2, I stopped investing bodies from Canon. Yes, I am waiting their better sensor to come around in any forms
for me the 5D3 will be the last until they improve DR (unless I got enough money to get a 7D2 for reach in addition.... maybe); if the adapters get good reviews and the lenses work fine and don't get all tilted out of wack and Canon doesn't bring more DR in a decent package for a non-insane price the A7r will be for me next year instead of a Canon body
I'm cutting the 5D III slack, since it's the cheapest FF with good speed and almost best AF around. Once we needed to buy a 1Ds series camera, now we can get it for half or less, than those cameras cost when new. Canon now has to address the sensor, no if's and buts, no half measures.

I agree with this completely. I found the antelope very challenging to catch.......video, still, or otherwise.
