Yes it's not cheap for sure. I've seen there is some less expensive EF-E adapters, without electronic AF, exposure and such. Anyway these are precision parts for IQ. But yes, understand. Mine will allways stay on A7R so I've integrated it in the bodie price.
It was a little bit better at Scandinavianphoto. Still expensive but better. I will check in Bangkok also. I'm moving to Bangkok in less than two weeks time

Don't worry about price, another forum member is going to get you setup for 2k with adapter and batteries I was under the mistaken impression that it would be 3k, but was corrected.

Are there alternative adapters to the metabones for EF lenses ?
$400 seems a lot to pay for lackluster AF performance.
Something cheaper that doesn't support AF (but does support IS and EXIF data ) would be great.
You need an adapter that will control the aperture electronically. I would guess that most people would be ok with just that feature, but it probably doesn't cost any more to have AF and IS supported at the same time. Once you have the electronics in place you might as well fully support the lens.

That would be me.

The AF speed on all of them are similar, slow and work like "traditional" contrast AF
Some test shot here, I found the canon lens is great, the impression of their resolution on this 36MP sensor is more impressive than this 36MP sensor itself
you can go to my flickr and get the original size, as my son kept moving during the shots so I was forced to use high enough shutter speed/ iso to capture the moment. I also had a little PP to make picture look a bit better including NR and sharpening
I will find a chance to go outside and take some landscape or cityscape as an actual test before the trip to Japan in mid of Dec.

I imagine you are right there. However I should like an adapter which will allow me to use my Leitaxed for Canon EOS Leica R lenses without having to de-Leitax them. As they have aperture rings I need no electronics in the mount. Now this may be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway since I dont know the answer to it: Can you mount a Canon EF lens bayonet on a Canon FD (to E mount) adapter? I have no idea whether the bayonets are the same or not once you remove the electronics. jctriguy wrote:

How was the auto focus speed with the 50L? Did it hunt a lot in indoors light?

Robin, you seem to be the type who would keep claiming their Minox would print to 8x10 better than an contact print from an 8x10 negative.
Face it boy, you are losing this one.
Canon needs to get something that at least matches the specs of Nikon and Sony - or even the Sigma DP Merrils.... tho I would expect them to come out with something that surpasses them. If they don't do it soon they will see more and more black lenses on the sidelines of sporting events.

Sporting events Do you really belive people buy these kind of cameras to shoot sport

Not sure what fantasy world this statement came from.
Lets see Canon super teles all weigh 30-40% less than the Nikons..do Sony even make big teles?
The 1Dx wipes the floor with all of them
Unlike the guys here who believe everything in camera performance revolves around DR some other photographers think that Auto focus,FPS and hi ISO and DR and here we go the big word COMBINED give you the best PACKAGE.
With the D4's AF issues, the clearly superior AF of the X combined with better hi ISO and wait for it better hi iso DR plus the best lenses ever designed im just wondering which part of the equation other than low iso DR you are referring to that will flood the sports scene with "black lenses"
Canon has a massive lead in sports tech photography that is going to take Nikon a huge huge investment to get close.
Low iso DR for something like a 1Dx doesn't even come into consideration.

All the ef lens I tried have the same behavior, the focus hunt for a second on a steady object. However if you cannot hold your camera steady enough the focus must fail and stop. By the way the IS is also working but much weaker

I don't know about that. It was the AF and so on that made the sidelines turn black but with the 5D3/1DX (and 1D4) they turned that around when it came to pure sports shooting at a serious level.

Sure Canon needs to step up the game for landscape and studio photographers with DR and more MPs. But your sporting event comment is totally off base.
Canon produces the best AF system now in any system (1DX and 5D3), Canon's super telephotos from the 300 2.8 up to the 600 f/4 and the 200-400 with 1.4TC are a long ways ahead of Nikon's current offerings for both IQ and weight. No one shooting sports is ever shooting at ISOs that even take advantage of the DR offered in the D800 type of sensor. Canon dominates the sports market, if it wasn't for the 1D3 debacle, I don't think you would even see any Nikon lenses at sporting events these days. And Sony for sports?? Come on, they aren't even in the picture.

There is no question which one to have if there was a choice between Standard/EXMOR comparable sensors from any canon models. Why not having all options on the table....don't take away anything for less...more is better, don't you think. Sometime I don't understand "AF/DR" arguments at all. You should know the power of your wallet, why pay more for less.
