It's not like AF works on every Canon EF lens with the Metabones adapter. Only Canon-branded lenses introduced after 2006 are officially supported. And most sigma, Tamron, Tokina and so on in EF mount are not supported.
And on those lenses it's working it's very very slow. With those two lenses in your post, the 24-70 mkI and mkII. AF will work only on the mkII lens

Maybe it could be flashed later with better firmware... I bet Metabones will not stick with 1.0 version forever.

No I don't belive so. He made it like this deliberately. You can read about it on his website. Continuous AF is not supported on any lens at all.
He also write what minimum firmware version that is required on many lenses to have the AF working.
If I buy this camera, I would call it a MF camera. And that's ok for a lot of photography

Definitely some 3D pop, I don' care if I have to manually focus every lens I own on this camera. I'm getting one!

Yes, not a big deal. All my lenses are v2 and recent one and in the list of metabones smart3 working lenses.
Anyway a7r would be for slow shooting which is 95% of mine, on tripod.
The only thing I still have to know is how I could fire my flashes in studio with it. I have set of phottix strato which works really great, and I don't even even if buying one for Sony will fire oher receivers. I've emailed phottix last week but still no answer.
Seeing all the buz and all Canon users interested, the majority for its sensor alone even with slow AF etc, it seems Canon was really wrong with stopping 1Ds line and not giving D800 competitor. They have allways been a leader in IQ and resolution (1Ds, 1Ds2, 1Ds3) and then stopped, and for a few years now they are far behind...

When looking in your profile, all your lenses will not have AF. And I don't understand your comment "All my lenses are v2". None of the lenses in your profile are v2. And most of them don't have a v2

Sorry, my profile isn't up to date at all. I prefer using my gear than showing everyone what I have ;-)
Update : I have updated it ! Wow there was old things lol. Didn't put all but main stuff I use regularly.

Correct me if I am wrong.
In practice, I always prefer images from a cleaner shadows cam. Less noisy shadows image always look smoother (like film) than a noisy one. As we know, there is no best denoising method to handle a noisy shadows one. Wanted or not, we always remove and distort some amount of texture and colours information in the process. Since some noise signatures is a function of DR, so we might not have the same smoothness at the same scene if same subject taken by different cam as you mentioned.
Another word, smoothness is all about lesser noise, sharpness and wider DR which can't be the same if taken from different cam & lenses. They mostly have different noise and DR specs.

Yes it could. Look at the shadows. Absolutely nothing in them. Just black and you can't see any detail at all. I'm sure the new Sony is great but it doesn't really show here.

+1. Like I've said before, these photos could have been taken with a competent compact like RX100 or G1X.
Low ISO dynamic range advantage is mostly seen after pp work like shadow lifting
