Herion, Yes I have EF f2.8 and EF 70-210 F4 which don't Auto focus. Off brand I have a Sigma and Tokina which don't either.
I found it on Amazon and there is a list of lens with AF and Manual focus.

Have a couple of questions -
Anyone using old FD35mm TS lens (I've seen picture in Fred's review, I think he uses metabone adpter not booster). Any adapter recommendation? (I guess the choice is between Metabones http://www.metabones.com/products/details/MB_FD-E-BM1 and novoflex). Do you need any special tripod arrangement?(again the picture in the review shows camera mounted on tripod with L plate!). Thanks for suggestions.
2. How about 45mmEF TS-E. I've both and was holding on 35mm so want to test before I part with one.

I think you can use any kind of FD/E-mount adapter. I use a simple and inexpensive brass one from Fotasy which works perfectly fine with my FD lenses.

That is interesting. I thought to get the best you have to use a better adapter. From what I've read (EJ/Fred review) metabones and novoflex are the best. Will give it a try though. Thx

Nops - it is like with wine - the most expensive wine is not always better. There are tolerances of course - and you might get a lemon. But this can occur both with expensive ones as well as with cheaper ones. The only expensive adapter which I am using is my Metabones III adapter for my Canon EF lenses. Otherwise, the cheaper ones for my FD, Minolta MD, M42, and Leica mounts are perfectly fine. So far I didn't have a bad adapter.

Hey, all you A7r + TS-E users...
As the months go on, is there any consensus about the best adapter with regards to out-of-the-box sample variability, flare/internal reflection issues, etc etc?
To reiterate, I'm specifically wondering about adapters that are the best match for TS-Es.
Did Metabones4 substantially improve upon a flocked Metabones3? What other options are out there?

There was another thread (or maybe pages back on this one) where an FMer compared his metabomes 3 to 4 shining some direct might at it and found the 4 did well unfocked. You'd have to search, maybe send him/her a pm. I have used the a7r with the 17 and 24 ts-e using the metabones 4 and it was fine. I have only had the sun to the side, not straight at me to comment about reflection stress testing. Some here including Fred had to go through a few adapters before finding on that worked for them. I was luck one the first try. Fred wrote an article about this, worth a read.

If I was starting fresh, I would get the new Metabones Mark IV and test the corners with a 35mm (or wider) lens.
My method was to square the camera on the Edmund Resolution chart. It's important to make sure you are square to the target before taking the test shots. If the 4 corners look sharp, you got a good adapter. It's quick and effective.

Thank you Fred. I've got Metabones III and flocking didn't entirely solve my flare issue.
Have you used your IV in "difficult" lighting conditions and seen that it behaves well with barely-out-of-frame light sources?

First of all, Loxia 35/2 is based on Zeiss Biogon 35/2 ZM lens while Loxia 50/2 is based on Zeiss Plannar 50/2 ZM.
But, and here is the trick… both lenses were specially adjusted to override refraction anomalies that sensor protective glass on Sony A7/r cameras creates, in order to significantly improve overall performance.
In the above illustration, you can see what happens when lens isn’t corrected for the protective sensor glass. The glass is represented by that black square and it is just above 2mm thick (I would never believe it). Theoretical lens is on the left of the square and sensor on the right. You can see how protective glass refraction affect light to fail to focus in a single plane, causing blurred image especially when the light rays gets steeper (in the edges and corners).
Following illustration shows how this problem is solved, when lens is corrected for the protective glass:

I have the Viltrox II and the AF ability just died but all other electronics seem fine. Tried cleaning contacts. I noticed it after a snug fit with an EF t/s adapter. 17-40 and 50L that worked in AF no longer work. When I toggled the MF/AF switch on the lens and try to change the Function Setting 'MF' it just says LENS Invalid with this lens. If the lens has an AF/MF swithc, perform the operation from the lens. Bah - any suggestions?

Try removing the adapter from the Sony, re-seat the lens to the adapter, then re-seat that combo to the Sony. After final seating 'slightly' turn the adapter in the opposite direction. I notice a similar situation early on with my metabones adapter and attempting to connect it too securely with that last little extra twist...

Indeed, having the grip always mounted with the L bracket is now possible.
But for manual handling, it isn't the best and I would not recomend it. My bracket base is long and come in my fingers when hand is on the grip and even the foot doesn't have enough clearance.

With a large collection of FD glass I'm still thinking on either the A7 or A7R but have hesitated given the adapter/light issues, have the issues been fixed and if so what adapter is best
My FD glass ranges from 20mm to 500, with a full compliment of macro gear including ring flash and bellows that would be used most...I'm looking to rent from LensRentals before any purchase and want to make sure I give this testing a best effort!
