Nice contribution, Derek. I wish more FUJI images can be viewed here. I occasionally went to FUJI forum but this (Alt) is pretty much the only place I visit daily.
Once FUJI 100M introduced, I might pick up a 50S/R cheap just for adapting 35mm Manual glasses. I really wish Hasselblad will work as the body looks much better for using. I just don't know how bad the delay will be in E shutter only.

The problem with electronic shutter isn't the delay, but the time it takes to read the sensor (edit: line after line, during exposure). On the Fuji GFX it takes a whopping 0.3 second. That's enough to get bent lines in every single image if you try to handhold it. I don't know if the Hassy is any better, but probably about the same.

I know that effect for sure, my mind is still stay with our 35mm system. Z is pretty slow at about 1/30? but it was fully usable for many stuff include portraits. 1/3 S will be a problem for sure. If Hassy is that slow, I can't reliable to use that for anything but tripod. Obviously, FUJI has no such a problem with mechanical shutter

i just borrowed the fuji for a few days, i'm afraid i didn't get to do any real shooting with it. just testing out to see what 35mm lenses would work with it. i would also much prefer the hassy body. i think the electronic shutter problem is an issue for sony to solve (sensor issue) not hassy or fuji.
i was pretty happy with the fuji body ergonomically though except for the shutter, which seemed absurdly laggy, and the fact that it is the size of texas leica...

Thanks for the info about the laggy, that is a one of bigger issues for me. and that is something you don't see on spec sheet. A nuance like that will break or make a camera for me actually.
As for Hssy X1, I was really meaning the shutter delay during E-shutter as that is only way I can make use of that otherwise fine camera. Now Martin just remind me another issue it may have with sensor slow read out speed.

I don't really see the point in getting a 33x44 camera to adapt FF lenses. Almost all of them will suck towards the corners and some of the fantastic GF lenses aren't even very expensive.
The only adapted lens I use without cropping is the Samyang 135/2. Everything else 1:1 or 65:24.

Not for corner sharpness for sure but mostly shallow-ER DOF and rendering and maybe freedom to have different format crop compare to FF with shallow DOF image such as 8X10, 1x1 etc.... It is all about a digital platform for fun. It is not on my priority list though and I don't know how long it will keep me interested, (Maybe you have already gone through this process and get bored ) I might get S1/R first for adapting glasses but who knows what (MF) will show up in the future.

i've never cared about corner performance on any camera. as Michael says, the fun is much faster lenses than typically available for medium format.
where am i gonna find a 31/1.8 for medium format? i really like the look of some of them too (e.g. 75 lux and jupiter-3).

I didn't really mean "performance" (since what you get isn't even close to performance ), but that I'm not seeing any "medium format look" if the corners are very dark and/or DOF gets very much deeper towards the corners. It just looks funky and bad. To me.
I'm not gonna argue about the usability of adapted FF lenses. I just think some people expect way too much if they haven't tried.
However, of course you can use a few of them and still get something that is pretty unique. Be it closeups, square crops or shots where dark corners don't matter.
I wish Fuji could implement more crop ratios. 4:3 and 5:4 with 43 mm diagonal (native "FF") would change things regarding adapted lenses. Then I could use a Zeiss 21/2.8 ZF or similar as a wide lens. The GF 23 is too large, too expensive and too wide (unless you crop) and I can't buy something like that for just a few percent of the images I want to do.

If you want to use the Zeiss 21 f/2.8 ZF, then you might consider the Laowa magic format converter. It is a sort of teleconverter that expands the image circle. It has glass that does a pretty good job from my testing so far. I just re-purchased the ZF 21 f/2.8 to cover a full frame 21mm equivalent (29mm on the GFX) because I like this perspective.
