Question - Which current MF digital camera do you all feel is the *best* performer with respect to color accuracy at night? Think old buildings, cars, etc in the middle of the night. Asking for a friend...

Gary, I would guess X1D or GFS. Assuming you are not look for IQ3100
I can tell you Leica is out personally for night shooting. NR is so annoy and IQ is not good as well. 007 is better but for sure it is still worse than competitors.
Thanks for your nice comments. Gary, I also enjoy the film shots you posted a lot. I just found out Film thread recently and plan to go over all the post I missed. You and Edward are having some fun there. That is all this hobby about Sometime, I wish I can be you that totally out of my gear head.

Thanks Michael. I am looking at the GFS but am wondering if a new model will come out soon. If so, I can pick up the current model (hopefully) for a bit less.
Made the dive into digital medium format. First image made with my new to me Pentax 645Z with 45-85 zoom, the price was the same as a used D850. I read all the pros and cons and I shoot with Sony A7R2 but there is a quality different from the smaller format, not to mention one has to be more mindful of the making of the shot.

Depend on how soon you need it. I expect MF update cycle will be slower. GFX released at 2017 Feb, only above 1 year. I'd expect at least another year or two for next realise.
If you haven't check yet, please take a look here about GFX. http://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm
From ISO1600 to ISO12800, its DR keeps flat. That is a amazing performance compare to the same sensor used with X1D and 645Z. That seems a perfect camera for you if you don't want take tripod for every night out.

Thank you, you are too kind. All the favor Leia can do for me is don't give me trouble in field.
A story may interesting many people. I am tough on my gear, during Iceland trip, 13 out 15 day were raining. I let D850 and S006 just hung around my neck alternatively depend on location and days. I might use my parka sleeve to cover them a little, that is it.
You know what, there always is foggy inside of my D850 VF eyepiece in rain after half hours outside, it will build up every time. I have to constantly clean it.(need removing the eyepiece) later on, I just give up, frame roughly and either let D850 AF handle the shoot or use LCD.
S is just fine. Both have no issue what so ever though. I love the toughness.
