Nice image. Believe me, the size and the weight of the Leica S2 and the Summarit 35mm lens is a far cry from the weight that many of us carried in the past. Consider the weight of my Linhof Technikardan 45S 4" X 5" camera, a battery of LF lenses, and all of the pre-loaded sheet film, film holder, spot meter, etc.

1Dx + 85L is the same weight as the S-006 + 70S
Adam,
The size and the weight of the Leica S camera models compared to the Full sized Canon and Nikon Professional bodies is part of what makes them so remarkable (but also so expensive).

Yes, one of the reasons why I purchased it
Although the Pentax645z isn't bad, it's just more inline with 645 size/shape mentality.

BTW, anyone using a 100 Summicron-S?
I would like to see this too. Besides being one of the fastest MF lenses, if Leica's perfectionism has this lens also be razor sharp wide open, then Leica S users definitely have something to be envied for.
I'd have held off for the Leica S 007 myself if they had announced that they're using the Sony 51mp sensor. In an article from two weeks ago (here), the author mentions that the Leica S 007 features an ISO range from 100-12,500, which is up from the ISO200-6400 range specified during the reveal 8 months ago, and makes me hopeful that Leica is still working on the camera until launch day. I wonder if they can hit the dynamic range and noise performance that Pentax squeezed out?
I was told the camera was announced ahead of schedule due to pressure from shareholders. It wasn't ready, and any samples/prototypes that have been tested thus far, are a far cry from it's current capabilities and it's still being squeezed a bit more by the techs. I have no idea what the ISO boost is, because I wasn't given specifics about anything.. Just that it'll be a better beast then it was in the initial testing phase and that I have to be patient because it's coming and it's awesome..
Not that I'm going to buy it But it is tempting, and I'm actually glad the sensor isn't Sony, because I'm sure we're only months away from a MFD mirrorless camera that'll be able to take Leica lenses, pentax lenses, mamiya lenses, etc.. So the S-007 will give us something different color/IQ wise.
Just wish Leica would drop the price of it by $10k. Because come on $25k is a killer price tag.
As for the 100/2. A few people have it, I just haven't seen enough photos to get an idea of how it renders. I tested it briefly with my S-006, but I couldn't nail focus, I'm hoping it was my technique and not some kinda lens problem.
From what I've seen floating around it's a really nice lens. More like a modern design Leica, that is, the OOF areas can look a bit harsh sometimes, depending on the background. Focus is fast and accurate and f2.0 is nice to have, of course. I already have the 120mm CS which is an incredible lens. I need the leaf shutter (the 100mm does not come in a CS version) and I need macro. Therefore I don't think I'll be getting the 100mm, which is very close to the 120mm anyway. The long focus throw of the 120mm can be slow(-er) sometimes, but I've learned to work around that by focussing on high contrast parts of the image close to where I want focus, and then go for the last bit. Usually, focussing on the eye works just fine for the 120mm.

I have the 120 as well. The problem is the focusing can be a bit slow. And although the lens is growing on me, I still prefer the rendering of the 70 over the 120. So I'm curious how fast the AF is on the 100/2 and if the rendering is more similar to the 70 or the 120.
I've seen the samples on getdpi.. Seems like the only place to find them right now
Guess I'm going to have to rent the lens.. Because buying it and hating it will be an expensive lesson.
There were some more 100mm examples on various S user groups on Facebook. And there is this thread over at LUF. Perhaps adamdewilde has seen it already, but I guess others reading this might be interested too.
I handled the 100mm for 15 minutes on my own camera at PK'14 and my impression was that AF was indeed a bit faster than the 120mm, more like the 70mm which I agree has fantastic rendering.

Thanks for reminding me to check l-camera.. I found some shots I haven't seen before. Unfortunately, my suspicions seem correct, and the 100S is more like the 120 or actually worse bokeh wise (I say worse, but mean less pleasing IMO). Maybe I need to see more samples, but from what I've seen, it warrants waiting.
Now I need to decide if the 35 Summarit-S is worth owning over the 45 Elmarit-S

It has pleasing contrast and DOF transition, but I am not convinced by its Bokeh either. It has very neutral Bokeh, definitely can't say beautiful IMO. Now I want see more 120 samples
Hmm, looking at the linked image samples of the 100/2 I must say I am slightly disappointed, at least as much as I can be from looking at tiny jpegs. From the few images I shot with it, the 120mm had incredibly smooth and buttery bokeh, which was made all the better by the sharpness and lack of CA.
