Lovely images. This one reminds me of the famous Robert Frank bus image.

Thanks Andrew. I'm not sure I have any secrets to impart. I knew it was going to be a b&w image when I framed it up. I do wish the X2D had a mono evf option, even if not a b&w jpeg.

Processing wise, I just went with how it felt to shoot. Hot and dry. So I just processed to be that. I like to have blacks and whites in my images so I usually set those first. Then in LR I went to the profiles section and went through the various b&w options until I

Thanks very much much indeed for taking the time to make such a comprehensive reply. Much appreciated. There’s some excellent food for thought there. I do know exactly what you mean about images that self-evidently don’t need too much work (I must confess, I’m never keen to spend time doing too much post processing). This one really does convey an impression of heat, too, though!

I found a deal on the Hasselblad X1D 50C (vi) 4116 kit (Black body w/ 45 f/3.5) that was so good that I just couldn't fight the temptation. At a price close to an equivalently clean Fujifilm GFX 50R w/ out lens that I've been contemplating, I thought I'd give the Hasselblad system a try.

I have other gear that is faster for when that matters, more portable for when that matters, and probably more reliable for when that matters. Yet, I've not shot or owned a digital MF camera yet and it seemed that this was a way that I could dip a toe in the water and use when I want to slow life down. I figure the body will be relegated to landscapes and nature details. While I am still getting used to the action of the leaf shutter, I think I have the settings dialed in and hope to share some work as I learn how to use the camera... Sadly, L-brackets are as hard to find as hen's teeth... if anyone has one that they want to dump, shoot me a PM.

cheers,
bruce

Congratulations! Look forward to seeing more of your images with your X1D. Other than a little loud mechanical leaf shutter sound of the the 45/3.5 XCD lens, this combination produced excellent image qualities.

I had the X1D II and the 45/3.5 combo ... another vote for good stuff.
You get used to the shutter sound.

Congrats.

Thanks for sharing...
I will probably add the 28mm P lens to the kit and call it a day until I determine if this is going to work for me over the long haul. Like I said, it will be my landscape camera when time is not going to make or break my opportunity... Still looking for an L-Bracket... may have to go through ebay and wait a few weeks to get one.
Quick question... if the bracket fits the X1D 50C II will it fit the original version of the X1D 50C?

Thanks Gordon... unfortunately, "unavailable." boo! I bought a small universal plate to hole me over. PromediaGear sells one, so I will likely get that.

I'll call this more testing...
It is pretty incredible how flexible the files are in these large sensor cameras...

The focal planes of the third image are fun, but the backwards letters on the first image really caught my eye.

Regardless, looks like a good place to take photos.

I am 907x100c "curious" at this point - seeing the sharp relatively low light images is encouraging.

So sad that I am going to need to return this camera, as I love the files.
I'll be looking to buy either an X1D 50C or 50C II... or a Fuji GFX 50R or 50SII. I now see how I can bring the MF sensor into my landscape workflow.

This shot is with the Hasselblad, whose shutter release is unpredictable.
