Outstanding set of this interesting subject, Tim. Thanks for sharing! Too many great ones to pick a favorite...though that last portrait is mighty fine.
Impressive presentation on the color and patterns Tim. I have gone back and looked at these several times, I like what I see...............I think I'' go back a few more times
Darn fine coloring, all the little nuances shine through, excellent my friend!
Tim, this is a great set even for you. A very cool looking bird, gotta love the blue eyes and the amazing face decorations. And you caught some really excellent moments, too! Great stuff.

We just returned from the Oregon coast as well and before that the Columbia River Gorge. Both are stunning and the cool weather was a delight compared to the heat wave hear in NYC.
The 3rd and the last show there beauty the best for me.

Fine work capturing all the different dark tones of this beautiful bird, Tim. The blue eyes and throat really pops out.
You got some neat behavioral images and great poses.
4 and 10 are my favorites.

Terrific series, Tim, with a wonderful mix of environment, behavior, and portrait shots. I have yet to see a Brandt's anywhere, so these seem very special indeed. My favorite is the third image, which seems to have a bit of everything (aesthetic appeal, behavior, environment). It's also quite striking that the crests are so visible in most of these birds. (I guess they're part of the breeding plumage, but seem harder to see in the "real" double crested cormies). Man, that blue color is something else!
Greg
Thanks for the thoughts Greg! Yes the crests are well defined but as you say that is breeding plumage. The double crested become quite profound in breeding plumage as well. I guess in this case Mr Brandt won out the naming rights!

WOW! seems to be a popular and appropriate beginning, Tim
These are incredible good- and enjoyable- images, starting from the very first and running all the way to the end.
Killer harsh light? And I love it! That may explain some of the critiques I get (especially on other FM forums). I shoot a lot in the harsh light of mid-day, because I'm there .
Charlie
Thanks so much Charlie! These guys aren't far from you, Depoe Bay is where I found them. Yes harsh light but as you say "that's when I was there"
