Sorry to hear about this. He always seemed like such a pleasant guy. I was just in Israel and thinking about pinging him but just didn't have the time. I'd be happy to help the family out too.

I shared with my wife that a FMer was commited suicide and who had 2 science degrees, left wife and 3 children, she was interested and asked me may his family need a help.
So I inform you that I am ready.

You know there are some other warning signs besides the ones mentioned in textbooks and websites...and people often kill themselves because they have endured, and sometimes cannot stand the thought of enduring further, a lot of emotional pain or a sense of futility.
Some people don't have the freedoms of expression that they would like (whether because of social norms, stigma, following a path one cannot abandon that is incompatible with their own long-term happiness or satisfaction), and that is itself another endured pain...
Knowing other pains are coming, not wanting to experience them...that's another thing. Being tired...tired of experiencing this pain, frustration, inability to express yourself completely...
These people often try to trudge on and some of them keep a generally upbeat manner. That can be a mask that itself prevents a kind of venting outlet potentially necessary to the person's managing to stand life.

I do clearly recall seeing his signature occasionally. I never talked to him. I suppose I don't have the connection to the person that generates sadness. Sympathy for the family though.
