Just a heads up, I'm in email contact with friends of the family trying to see if they can come up with a Paypal address to use for donations. Carsten and I can certainly work in parallel.

Carsten,
The initiative mentioned by corndog in the Canon forum to set up a PayPal address for donations might be a good way to go. No requirement for oversight and coordination, as long as there is sufficiently reliable assurance that the account is linked to the right place.

Yes, that is also a possibility... I am not sure. I am not sure if, imagining that I was the family, would feel overwhelmed with so many separate payments, or would prefer one "FM" payment... We can discuss the details.
We already have people committed to over $300, and this just a short time after the initial post. I am pretty confident at this point that we will be able to get enough together for a meaningful donation, maybe enough to cover funeral expenses or similar.

I imagine this fellow to be as gentle in real life as he was in our community and gentleness can be a rare commodity, particularly on-line. Yakim, happy shooting indeed...
carstenw, I'm sending you my email in support of donations to Yakim's family.
