This is shocking and almost unbelievable. I will miss the "Happy Shooting"
He was coming over to Holland for a 2 weeks study at the university next week. I made an appointment to meet him in Amsterdam and show him around. We had some email contact about places to stay and visit. I feel pretty lost at the moment.

Continuing to read through this thread, I am amazed at the amount of emotion I am feeling and I am overwhelmed that these feelings seem to be shared by all of us.
I realize now that I would feel the same way about all of you, even though I only lurk here once in a while now.
Why do we not take the chance to express our love and appreciation for others more often?

Yakim's manner was always gentle and kindness like an angel. Well, he's now.
I will miss him dearly.
BTW, Yakim, you won't need CS Cloud anyway, and perhaps you're now in the cloud laughing all the way to heaven. God speed and please pray for us all.

Stay strong, everyone. Life is short.
I'm feeling the same way. This is affecting me a fair bit. Even though I never met him in person, I interacted with him quite a lot online, and he was one of those constant great voices on the boards. I feel like there's this little void that will be there on the Alt boards for a while. I also find myself feeling bad that I never posted a color picture of a B&W that he liked and asked to see the color....I had missed his post in that thread. I know it's not really a big deal, but still, I feel bad.
This is a solid community, and I feel like I know many of the posters personally, even though we only get to see a very small glimpse of our lives.
One other thing that is so frustrating is that it just seems sort of off for a suicide. I understand that we can't know what really went on that day, but something just strikes me as off about him posting excitedly about gear, especially since two of his posts on his last day alive were concerning upcoming releases (the E-P5 and Touit lenses), and then committing suicide a few hours later. He was excited about going to Amsterdam and his opportunity later this month. What changed? Just doesn't sit well with me. Does anyone have additional details, or can confirm it was indeed suicide?

Make me sad. I always remember 'happy shooting' from his post.
Oh my goodness...
I never actually interacted with Yakim that I can recall, but the "happy shooting" signature stuck with me. As soon as I read this thread I thought of it, and it makes me so sad.
I'm sorry none of us here knew your sufferings in life. Go in peace, Yakim.
