Edd, I'm enjoying all of your photos and descriptions. Always wondered where the old Merkur automobile got its name; now I'm pretty sure I know.
I've had to shoot a lot of stuff that would have little bearing on this thread, and have also had so much musical work to keep up with that shooting anything has meant burning the candle at both ends and in the middle. Nonetheless, here are two from today, by early evening light, with a hint of flash that I hope you can't see.
100L macro, 600EX-RT off camera, fired by ST-E3-RT.

Rob, the exif at flickr shows 24mm. How many images did you stitch? From the tree bending, I had imagined a pair of fisheye shots stitched and cropped, but I guess that wasn't how you did it. Inquiring gear-heads want to know!

By an amazing turn of events the trees are actually that bendy! Its a 9 frame stitch at 24mm, each of those 9 frames are 9 shot bracketed and hdr'd. Technique for shooting it is a little interesting and may make a fun article on my blog one day!

Thanks. I'm not surprised at the 81 shots (a lot of work!), but it looks very carefully and tastefully done. If you do write it up on your blog, let us know with a link posted here.

Bit more winter looking than spring, but here's a view from the 'backyard' this evening (Lover's Leap in NorCal). We just moved up here, so I imagine y'all will be seeing more of it. There's some great insects around here too.
Welcome to the area. I'm a bit north of you. Hwy 50 offers great access to Tahoe and greater environs. Great fall colors, Sierra landscapes and more. Lot's of history there too, including Pony Express Route.

Good Morning,
John_T, Jess, Jerry, Terry: Thanks for the kind words....
Friday's schedule was full with technical tours of either the Mercedes or Porsche manufacturing plants (no photography), but visits to both museums (photos ok). It was pouring most of Friday, some inside was a great place to be. One more day here in Germany, then back to reality...

Something a little different from today - i "borrowed" an aperture from the electron microscope at work and following 15 mins work with a body cap, dremel, Al foil and sticky tape i now have a canon-mount pinhole.
As you can see, spring is only just arriving here: The trees are budding, the dandelions are flowering and most of the mud is drying. That said, our flower-collecting bike ride was cut short when junior went flower-collecting in some splendidly sticky mud that pulled off her shoe and left us making up excuses to tell mummy when we got home...

15Bit, you really should put your pinhole on a 5DIII and add a telescoping tube so you can MA the AF separately for wide and tele!
Edd, I've wanted to see a 300SL close up since they appeared. Your photo, more than others I've seen, makes it apparent how awkward it would be to enter and exit with that wide sill (probably needed for torsional rigidity?), though for tall people there would be compensation in not having to duck before sitting.
Speaking of sitting ducks, maybe I'll have a chance to do some lake photography tomorrow, and can rejoin the contributing faction.

Well there's a problem there - because i used a non-OEM pinhole i don't get electronic connectivity and all auto functions (AF included) are offline. I don't know if the Mk3 is better in this, but with my non-OEM pinhole interoperability with the 5Dc is so bad i can't even see anything through the viewfinder
