5Dc + Canon 50 f/1.4 @ f/4, ISO 50, 1/640... yea, 50 f/1.4 on a FF .... that's what I had in my hand and I had to take the shot...
Jefferson, any particular reason for using ISO 50? I'm sure it does no harm when the clouds keep dynamic range moderate, but my understanding is that 50 gives you a little less DR than 100, with no significant advantage (if any) in noise or color. I've only rarely used it when trying to shoot a fast lens wide open in brilliant sun...
Anyway, just figured this is theoretically a gear thread ( ) so I might as well bring up the subject. I haven't shot a 5Dc, just II and III.

I tend to go with slower shutter speeds when shooting motorsports in bright sun (1/30 t0 1/200) shooting in Tv mode, and I guess it just holds over even when shooting Av mode as I normally try to shoot wide aperture shots...

A few more from Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. All shot as jpgs, slight PP in LR4 and PSE10 for pano. Berlin Wall is a 4-shot pano.
These are great, Jim. Definitely get the feel of a SoCal spring. Like the geometry and contrasting colors in #3.

Not a great (or even good) photo, but a sure sign of spring; house wren eggs in any pile of junk left in the open shed. A good excuse not to clean out the garage for a few more weeks...
With 100L macro.
Also, turkey hens are on the prowl; egg laying time is at hand, usually hatching by mid-May...
With 500 f/4L.

Ah, yes, I've enjoyed your panned shots with blurred backgrounds, should have thought of that.

Thanks! It's definitely different here from so many parts of the country and world!
And thanks for appreciating the shot of the picnic tables. I've been trying to capture that for a few years, but think this angle on the subject and the lens compression really work for the pattern.

I used the 70-200/2.8 IS II + 2X III in order to get close focusing in 3-400 mm range.
Hey, Jess, that is a nice Toxic ruffian, in the style of Imagemaster's feeder-cum-blind backyard shots, except yours appears to be post processed gently.
