This lens is just insane for this type of work. Just a random thought, but I read somewhere that the RX1r has shallower depth compared to the RX1 at the same aperture. Is this really a noticeable difference?

It has been raining here all day and then the clouds opened up in the early evening with this golden light. The colors are accurate. This is a severe crop of an image taken at 1/160, F5.6 at ISO 100. It was very bright with high contrast from the setting sun. This lens is always amazing! The ship is the Alaska ferry beginning its journey north.

In theory its true, in practice it wont be visible on websized image.
DOF is pretty much always same, just where is that "line" between focused and defocused is depending on how sharp is sensor itself (size, mpix count, AA filter).

sebboh -- as always, love you black and white
A few shots from the University of British Columbia Japanese garden. Very bright sun. Very deep shade. Lots of surface glare. The RX1 raw files have a huge dynamic range.
