What a compliment, thank you so much!
I think it helps...
...to live in a country with beautiful scenery and often nice light.
...to work from home, so that I can go out whenever I wish and take advantage of the best light. There are some nice locations within walking distance.
...maybe also that I have worked as an artist (clipart and illustrations) for 12 years.
That said, I think there are many here who are more skilled than I am.

I have to agree with dovey. I don't post here much but I've been lurking for a while and I remember seeing Helena's photos with the 1.4/35mm zeiss and thinking "damn, I gotta have this lens" and recently the same with the RX1, the Fuji... but what I think now is "damn, I wish I had this talent"

You are too kind, thank you very much for the great start of the day!
Ryan, thank you too!

You do get noticed with your consistent flow of photos Helena. You shoot a lot and that must be wonderful. Scandinavian photos are something different here. They're a nice retreat from the many more mundane photos on the forums.
I wish I had the time and scenery to do that on an almost daily basis.

Helena, thanks for sharing some more beautiful images from Lofoten. Glad you are enjoying your other camera and both cameras are excellent so I understand your comments about both. I am still enjoying my RX1 and it still amazes me with its IQ. Have not posted here in awhile.

Douglas, Jochen and others, that's OK. I already knew that my standards are lower, or at least different, than most others' here. There's no right or wrong in this. And I did say that RX1's sensor is better. It's just that the files from the Fuji happen to suit my taste well and Joe asked for my opinion. Anyway, I'm still in the honeymoon phase and maybe my feelings will change in a month or two...
Some odds and ends from Lofoten in March (what a great trip that was! would love to go back soon):
fantastics shots! i particularly like 1, 2, 3, ane 6. i agree with what everybody else has said about your photography in general too – you have a fantastic eye and consistently produce spectacular images.

3. Hmm... Strange "banding" in the sky in this one. Wonder what is the cause of that.
that is called posterization. usually it's an artifact of the transition to 8 bit jpeg and it's pretty common to see when you have a big tonal gradient in the sky. i'm told adding noise to the sky will get rid of it, but i've not tried that myself.

Thanks everyone very much! I hadn't expected this. Nice.
vovkinson, you're welcome.
Wayne, I have been missing your photos. Hope you'll be back.
Thyraz, welcome! Nice set, especially the last one!
sebboh, thank you! The third is one of my own favorites, so I hope it can be fixed. I'll look into it asap.
Douglas, yes always RAW. I use Lightroom 4.4.

Helena, the banding I have noticed with your shot is similar to what I have seen when you add a tone or two tone during PP'ing and then down size with both Lr 4 and 5. I have found that if you remove the tone to the B&W image, purely B&W it disappears. I suspect the toning function, when added first, and then PP'd is when this happens. I have tried completing all the PP'ing first and then adding the tone, and it is fine.

I have been an avid lurker of this thread and will click at it at least once a day. You guys and gals are producing magnificent imagery, so I thank you for sharing. I am enamoured with the 35 focal length, but being a student, buying this camera would mean trading other things, so I just gotta dream..
In particular, I would like to thank Helena for sharing such a consistent, breathtaking set of pics, time after time. I mean this in no detriment to others (who are also posting beautiful images!) but I feel particularly attracted to Helena's vision. You rock the house big time
