dovey those are really nice! Now I want to go to India. Glad you are happy with the results. I wish RX1 had existed when we were in Cuba last year. My Canon gear did fine and I can't say the weight bothered me much (I brought two lenses and only carried one at a time), but the Sony would have been so much nicer.

Dovey, very nice set from Bangalore - agree with all your points of it being silent and unobtrusive.
Charles, very nice set. The scallops looks tasty as well!
Jochen, very nice framing and composition of the tree.
I took a few snap shots in between my meetings. The camera is well suited for traveling light.

Very nice pics Dovey and Charles. I also love pics of India. It's been two years since I have been there last and the next visit will likely be Kerala. Keep them coming!

Interesting . I'm site it was deliberate but I don't personally like the framing for two and three. They are nice shots and I find it distracting. Missing half a head and feet. A random nose poking in, and a bit too tight on top of the head.
If those were cropped in post can you post a version without the crop?
Interesting idea and shots, but they don't work for me, it's all personal taste and those are just my thoughts. My apologies if you weren't looking for feedback.

Thanks to all.
h00ligan, appreciate your feedback. Like I said, the images were SOOC and merely resized, not cropped. I guess the image is stronger if you appreciate the scene and its people (that you can't relate to unless you work in fashion).
I used the RX1 exclusively as my backstage camera and managed to get some pretty neat candids. Needless to say it drew a lot of curious looks and questions from other photographers who were curious (and I had taped over the Sony label and model number). There were only a few situations in which the AF failed me, otherwise the facial recognition worked like a charm and locked on perfectly. Even at F/2 the Zeiss is sharp and draws beautifully.

I am no fashionista but here is a take on the last image of the set:
the walkway and the left side line of spectators establish the leading line that anchors the image and establishes context, along with the chandeliers and billowy drapes.
The woman and her white dress bisects the image vertically, gives it strength and forming the main point of interest, reinforced by the two main onlookers staring at her, or past her. The photo draws attention to the sheer artificiality of the event, characterised by boredom - whether feigned or real - on the faces of all participants. The lean on the woman adds interest and dynamism. The image has depth and well-established context, and my favourite person is the blonde in black garb at the far end of the runway.
So it says much more than what is missing, I believe, and in fact you see the main woman's face and expression clearly, and not seeing her feet adds to the surreal nature of the shot. I also am willing to bet the dude nursing the DSLR would like to use an RX1...

Vladi, outstanding set! Very nice portraits in the first two shots but the last is my favorite. Looks like a scene out of "Pret A Porter" . The three characters on the left, especially the one with the sunglasses really make the shot for me. The glam of the chandeliers and the curtains are rendered well in classic B&W. Also like the low POV which makes the tall runway model look even more like a giraffe.
Charles, like the color version of the Spanish guitarist too but like the B&W version the best still.
Dovey, great portraits and street shots from Bangalore!
Joe, nice set ofimages from Vegas strip.

Thanks Charles & Wayne!
Vladi, very nice set as others have mentioned. I guess everyone has their own opinions and interpretations. The whiteness and pose of the model on #3 makes her look like she was carved our of stone by Michelangelo, cool shot.
I guess Hooligan is not a fan of this type of photography but many street photographers such as Alex Webb, Costa Manos, Jean Gaumy and countless others really like to chop off heads and bodies. An interesting article here for those interested this type of composition, it actually goes back to paintings of past masters http://www.adammarelliphoto.com/2012/09/alex-webb-m-c-escher/
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas ... I was trying out focus peaking with my newly acquired EVF, seem to work quite well, and yes, chopping of the head here was intentional.

Wayne, the lady in the sunglasses is actually Anne Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, who inspired Meryl Streep's character in Devil Wears Prada. She's very influential in these circles, needless to say. Very cold, very detached and intimidating - if you let her.

The 'dude' would be Bill Cunningham, fashion photographer for the NY Times. He was cradling his film Nikon right alongside the dSLR and switched film mid-show. I somehow doubt that he would be comfortable with the RX1, but that's just my opinion. I can highly recommend the documentary on Bill, incredible insights into his unique life.

Vladi, thanks for the info on the fashion moguls in the shot. Very interesting. Haven't seen Devil Wears Prada but Pret A Porter was a good comedy which poked fun at this fashion world.
Joe, nice portrait of the female body! Surprised security didn't see you taking this picture and make you leave.
