I don't check in here very often. I should do so more frequently because the work being posted here is superb. I learn a lot by looking at such work. Here are some images from the past few weeks.
Joy: "I'm sorry, Boss. I didn't mean to bust that flock of birds we'd been stalking and then chase them all around the field barking and nipping at them until they flew into the next county. Yeah, I know it's hunting season and I'm a pointing dog, but I'm just a puppy... and.... and... anybody can make a mistake. It will never happen again. I promise...."
Joy on the family farm with a flight of doves passing behind her:
Emma Noir. Emma is my 16 year old granddaughter - as nice as she is beautiful.
Fourteen year old Chase retrieving a dove:
Circa 1750 Quaker Meetinghouse in the morning mist that occurs in early fall when the land is still warm and the air cool:
Chase dove hunting in the early morning frost:
A fellow for whom we were guiding is walking in to flush a Joy point on what turned out to be a nice cock pheasant in thick cover:
Chase retrieving the rooster:
Lightening fast dogs turned to stone. A heart pounding moment - solid Joy point, honored by Chase - about to be flushed by the man we were guiding for. We did our job - found and pinned the wary bird for him. Now, we are about to find out if he can to his part and take the bird on the wing after he flushes the point.
Joy at work in the early morning light on lands that belonged to my PA Dutch grandparents before they lost it in the Great Depression:
This 1750's first settler's cabin was built over a clear spring by one of my ancestors and it still stands on the family farm. I wish someone had the money to fix it up or at least preserve it.
Mountaintop Joy hunting ruffed grouse this week deep in a wilderness area: This sort of hunting is extremely physically demanding, so my old buddy Chase is home sadly riding the couch.
Joy cooling off in a remote mountain trout stream while ruffed grouse hunting. No other humans for many miles. Paradise.

Love the rendering that the lens on this camera produces. And how it makes B&W look so good. To me the RX1II looks the same as my previous RX1, just more pixels, and much better AF.. Eye focus ftw...
The second one is heavily cropped.
