Thanks Michael....but I will say, the A7 has been a lot of fun for me lately . The RX1 is far superior lens though, the side by side comparisons really don't bode well for the FE 35. That being said, the AF on the A7 tracking kids sure is a nice thing to have

Thank you Michael! Nice to see that this thread still is going strong and that some people have had their RX1's for as long as I have. I must admit that I often have had thoughts about selling mine (because of slow AF and a color balance that's not quite to my taste), but its beautiful files keep me from doing so. Also, lately I have realized that even though it's not my most used camera most of my favorite shots are from it, so I'll make an effort to use it more.
Some experiments from last winter. Yes, that's actually the sun in the last one, filtered by tree branches and some fog.

Hi all - bought a used RX1 in December and was loving it. Unfortunately one time right after I swapped batteries it stopped working. Basically it will not turn on. Occasionally it will make some kind of noise if I flick the power switch, but the LCD will not come on, shutter button does not fire, camera is essentially unresponsive.
Two questions for the group:
1. Any hope of fixing this myself? Any kind of known problem that might be causing this which I could resolve?
2. If not, anyone had experience with Sony service? I assume I'll have to send it in. Any thoughts on what I can expect (cost, turnaround time, any tips and tricks for better service) would be much appreciated.
I have tried several different (charged) batteries and that does not help. Neither did charging the battery in-camera via the USB cable. Thanks in advance.

Batman, look through the other RX1 thread ( https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1147292/0 ) If I recall correctly a few of the cameras were reported to have "frozen up" and a crisp rap fixed the problem. I suspect it may be related to whatever makes the "thunk" noise at power-up. Never-the-less, I think that I'd be hesitant to rap mine

Your pics are amazing. I know it's not the camera that makes art, but I really want an rx1 now.
Do you do a lot post processing? And where in sf are those colorful steps?
thanks!
the steps are at 16th and moraga: http://www.tiledsteps.org/
and they lead to my favorite bench in the city.
i don't spend a lot of time doing post processing but some might consider my processing to be heavy. i have a number of presets that i made for specific looks (they are mostly just tone curves, color settings, and vignetting). i almost always just apply one of those and do a little tweaking afterwords.
