So I wonder...does the 1DIV (and now) 1DX AF at f/8 if you used, say, a 300 2.8L with stacked TC's? Sure, the camera only recognizes a single TC, and on my 7D that combo is marginal at best when it comes to autofocus. It'll AF, but it searches a lot, unlike my 400mm 5.6L that will take a non-reporting 1.4TC, and my 7D will generally shrug it off like it doesn't notice or care.
Has anyone tried the TC stacking combo with a camera that is supposed to AF at f/8 and had any better luck with autofocus? Sure, IQ is a whole other story, but unless you're ready to manual focus, you gotta get AF before you worry about IQ.
The reason I ask all this is that the new 300mm f/2.8II is supposed to be such a good lens even with a 2XTC attached, so I'm sure some will want to push it and try to add a 1.4TC on top of it.

Yes, wonder exactly what it will do. Having it lit all the time is what you want so you can see in advance. I guess you can just remember where it is or keep it half pressed all the time. I dunno...will have to use it to see what the real-world application is. In the mail now, looking foward to test-driving it soon.
Ah, ha! Shane has drank the Kool-Aid , don't worry, you are going to like this one!

From CR:
Menu > AF5 > AF Status in viewfinder > Show outside of frame
I do this because the blinking “AF” graphic in the viewfinder is quite distracting
Menu > AF5 > VF Display illumination > Enable: On > Q > Illuminated: Normal
I found the “Brighter” setting to be a bit distracting this AM while shooting some avian creatures. I will probably add this setting to “My Menu”, just in case there’s a situation where the brighter point is needed.
