I think this is going to make for a powerful presentation environment ...
At over 8kg, this is not really very portable, unless you drive everywhere, and walk only short distances, in which case it could work. It supports only up to 8GB RAM, which I find a bit odd, given the memory consumption of such packages as Lightroom and Photoshop. Note also that it does not support touch pens, so it is essentially a huge tablet with high power consumption (59W at idle), and limited memory.
I thought you wanted something much more like an iPad with Windows and Lightroom, operable by finger or touch pen?

Yes,I wouldn't buy this for my intended purpose but as similar solutions become more widespread, it could be an option. There's no need for stylus in this case because you could just just use a portable, wireless keyboard with a touch pad.
I still think my best option is a small notebook and at that point, the touch screen or windows 8 wouldn't be a requirement. Touch screen is only necessary if there is no built-in keyboard or touchpad/mouse.

If it's not a tablet, and isn't applicable for your stated use case, then how is it relevant to this thread, since we're policing things?

Okay, since we're apparently fine with posting off-topic non-sequiturs, I'll continue my previous discussion...
FlyPenFly, I think you're forgetting how one-sided exclusive titles were weighted in Sony's favor when both consoles were released. The only two studios releasing exclusive Xbox titles were Bungie and Tecmo: everyone else was in Sony's camp. Xbox Live (and specifically, multiplayer FPS) was the tipping point. It was a legitimate innovation from Microsoft, very comparable to how Apple ate everyone's lunch with iTunes.

Can probably find out if we correlate it with a marketshare graph somewhere on the release dates of titles and introduction of Live. I'm too lazy to do that though.

Unfortunately Microsoft has been unresponsive in recent times and PSN has caught up on innovation and possibly even passed XBox Live, so the situation is currently being reversed. Microsoft's insane fees for XBox Live Arcade game updates hasn't helped the goodwill situation on the side of the developers. XBL used to be my favorite network, but PSN is looking more friendly at the moment.

Hopefully obama didn't blow it with his first debate performance.

No, i think you're confusing the release date of the microsoft x86 windows 8 tablet with the release of windows 8 operating system. The x86 OS is due out next month and so are dozens of pcs, tablets and notebooks that will have it installed from the factory.

I agree tho... I think it's exclusive titles for the most part. That and sheep^appeal (TV ads and etc.).
But who says Xbox is the winner? I think Sony won the Japanese market (maybe 10 to 1). And did so with... wait for it... yup, exclusive titles (and sheep^appeal!).

I read on XDA that MS put out a Win8 SDK and then told everyone to basically skip it by handing them a Win9 SDK about one month later.
So something on topic for a change; I think users should skip Win8 devices too. It'll likely be a very short stepping stone to something actually competitive... Win9.

For me it's all about Rez. Your shots on a ipad retina basically render any other screen fuzzy from that point on.
One of my current pastimes is simply the nyt app, which has photos optimized for the retina. I check the photos section daily, but articles also have shots imbedded at superb Rez. 20 bucks a month is highway robbery, but the shots are so spectacular I can't turn it off.
I was skeptical that the retina would work well surfing, but it's fine.
MS on the other hand, will not let you control the background of the start screen in 8. Unfortunately, I will have to learn all it about so I can help the poor old people try and figure it out.
I have a kool stand for the iPad which grabs any desk edge or cupboard door and holds the thing at any angle.
But I agree iOS should support mice and touch pads--- why not?
