Hmm, very curious about the sensor. "about 25 MP"? Had he said 24MP, one would automatically guess it to be a Sony. Perhaps it's not a Sony sensor after all. I'm also curious to see what the body looks like given it's going to be different.
I think he didn't want to make it too obvious with the 25 mp. I do hope it uses a Sony sensor though. To be honest I don't have too much confidence in US and European sensor manufacturing, the Japanese are way ahead. As for the shape, I don't think you will be able to see dramatic differences. It seems to be like the M9 judging from the leaked photos. Probably minor changes to accommodate the rumored base attachment for video.
Interesting, if it's true, and I'm sure Stephen's got some kind of inside information. But a couple of weeks ago, I would've bet quite a bit that Leica would keep the M10 for the purist community it's fostered with CMOS, a better LCD, and live view being the only big changes. I figured they'd do all of the other modern additions on the other rumored body. It's tough to ignore the persistent rumors, though. I suppose that means Leica feels this is the future of the rangefinder. And video. On a rangefinder. I wonder if you'll be able to use the Oly VF-2 on it.
I guess the best part is digital M users will be able to focus the 135 APO, yeah? That lens is way too good to be left behind.
Isn't Sony partnered with Zeiss for things like lenses? If I were Zeiss, I'd be less than happy with a Sony-Leica tie in. Not that Zeiss can dictate what Sony does, and corporate alliances are often overlapping. Plus the RX1 is nipping at Leica's heels...
