@trale compared to the OMD-D,NEX,and the Fuji cameras... Just saying... I check out the post to see what the cameras can do. This camera doesn't have too many users posting their pics...
Isn't the very fact that there are 9 pages for what is basically a high end point and shoot camera on high end, money is no object, only the best will do, pixel peep til it hurts, gear driven type forum say plenty ?
I mean come on; "only" 9 pages ?
Thats 9 more pages than I see people here devoting to the likes of the Canon G15 or S100, or the Nikon P7700, or the Panasonic LX7 etc
The very fact that one can discuss a little Sony pocket camera amongst talk of Zeiss and Leica glass is pretty remarkable.

Here are four images I took last weekend with the new camera (first time out). Super fast response time and seems to accurately focus in low light, pano feature is fun. Except the pano shot (jpg in camera then processed in LR4) the others were shot in RAW and processed in LR4.

Mine arrived last week. It's a fantastic little beast, great settings options, superb build. 245 grams.
My Nex 5n is in the mail to sony before the warranty runs out, so this is my only digital camera for a few weeks. My pack was so light--usually I have 5 RF lenses and the nex---well it was pretty nice.
Of course you can't really tell from 1024s--but these look very crisp on my cinema HD.
I don't know if those nikon Vs can do this--their sensor is the same size. I have the CPL filter also but have not used it yet. It seems a match for an APS-C with a kit lens---and those are not close to the speed of the Rx's little zeiss.
Here's a couple more.
Must say, this camera is exactly what I was looking for and has got me taking pics all the time, which is exactly what I was after as it's my only one.
Low rez jpg's via my Flickr - hope you like.
moviemaker works but converts to another windows format for the final product, is there a way to just stitch the AVCHD's together simply and without format change?
Problem solved..I've been looking for a long time for a small camera for snaps, travel, and take it wth you where ever you go use. After handling the Sony RX100 at the recent PDN Photo Expo in NYC I decided that based on what I've seen posted here and the reviews I read the RX100 would be the camera that best suited my needs. I picked one up yestrday from my local camera store and while I've only taken a few shots around the house and yard with it I am very impressed witht the image quality, color, etc. More than adequate image quality for simple shooting. I was looking for a camera that was for all around shooting and files that I could edit with a one click preset in Lightroom and this seems to be my answer. Nothing great here but hopefully plenty of quality shots to follow.
A few I took at the Rush show at TWC Arena in Charlotte, NC on October 30, 2012. None are cropped, jpegs from camera with a bit of LR4 adjustments. They look good all the way to full resolution and are sharp. This camera doesnt even have trouble accurately focusing. Very impressed for a little fixed lens camera. The HD videos (and sound) are great too, especially the sound and I can plug the camera in directly to my HD TV and stereo and relive the show.
Day 2 with the Sony RX100. Still trying to figure out a few things on it in terms of best focus set ups etc. But I know from just playing around with it for two days this is going to be a great little camera. Nice to be able to just put it in the pocket and go out the door. Couple from a walk in the woods this morning with the wife and dog. Neat little features like the pano option are fun to use as well. Thanks for looking.

Love the watercolor effect on that scene, just suits it perfectly. Its weird, I've got a number of plug-in's over the years that can do watercolor and other effects, such as Toon-It and Sketch, and they have a ton of control and options to them, but somehow Sony's watercolor effect, with little if any control over its processing just always seems to crank out a "perfect" effect, at least in regards to my own mind's eye version of what I think a watercolor effect should look like.
It somehow maintains detail in all the right places yet doing so with a painterly quality, such as on the waves.
Really a fun effect and as I'm sure most know but thats worth repeating for those who might not, you can process an image with the watercolor effect in camera after taking a shot and save it as copy of the original file.
