Lots of negatives regarding the lack of physical controls and a few weeks ago I would have been right with them, however having used the 650D for a couple of weeks now, I have grown to love using the LCD. (An old dog learning new tricks )
As to the looks..... well I love a camera that looks good, but I love a good looking image more, so I would be happy to shoot with a brick if it gave better image quality.

That is an EF-M 18-55 IS lens. Image stabilization on the lens means there won't be sensor-based anti-shake on the mirrorless system. Bad move for Canon.
Optical image stabilization is ideal for telephoto lenses, which is why it's good for SLRs. But mirrorless formats tend to be skewed towards wider lenses and pancake primes. Sensor-based antishake would've been much better for this format.

I think it looks interesting but without details I'm reserving judgement. I can tell you I like the design and appreciate the fast prime lens. Hopefully will get more details soon.

Everybody had better realize that neither Canon or Nikon is not going to destroy their core SLR business just so people can have a rangefinder style camera. Its not going to happen until SLRs are dead and buried technology wise. Frankly I don't see this happening either. There is a ton of money already invested in SLR in the pro segment and they would be foolish to make those customers eat it. Remember the FD to EOS angst, that will be a blip on the radar if Canon abandoned EOS today. The screaming out on the Net would be heard round the globe.
This is targeted at the same users that buy 4/3 and Nex. They want something better than a P&S but don't want all the features of an SLR.
Based on my own experience, these digital viewfinders bite it compared to just looking through an SLR. Never mind the travesty of trying to take pictures off the screen on the back on a bright sunny day. You can't see the picture nor the settings most of the time. I had a Panasonic GF1 for exactly 1 year and went back to an SLR.

Still keeping my X100. Strike one....
I get it if Canon doesn't want to erode their DSLR market. So why not make something like the X100? A fixed lens, digital Canonet? If the price was right, I'd be interested. I am VERY interested in the X100, but the price is too high for me to justify right now... In another year or so, when the X200 comes out, I'll probably pop on the X100. Unless Canon comes up with something comparable for significantly cheaper in the meantime...

I think it looks like a nice alternative to a Nex system, but a swivel screen would have been a very useful feature on a camera like this.... wait and see I guess...

And did you make a similar prediction about digital cameras destroying their film business
