Aspect ratio of the sensor makes it look like it's not APSC, but 1/1.5 like the G1X...
Surely it's the same sensor as G1X, so 1.8x crop, which would make the 22mm pancake basically a 40mm FF equivalent which is clearly not an oddball FL anymore.

How can you tell the aspect ratio of the sensor from an exterior photo with the lens mounted?
Are you kidding! We have skilled experts here that can give you a thorough breakdown & review of a camera without having used it even once! This is a skill that formally only the indomitable Ken Rockwell pocessed...however, there is now a whole new generation with equal skill in this regard

to me, this looks very intruiging. If its APS-C, I'd be happy with the 35mm equivalent lens. I've been considering the Fuji X100, but price is an issue there. It looks like this Canon-M doesn't have great manual controls, but if the image quality is there, the price is right and its compatible with my EOS lenses, I might consider it.

Agreed! I was hoping for a canon equalivent version of Leica M9, but it looks like the Leica M9 (and upcoming M10) will remain as the unchallenged king of mirrorless cameras.
Canon's mirrorless will be great for soccer moms and casual hikers, but for us photographers, not so much.

One thing to mention (since it now appears this may indeed be a real camera) is that historically, Canon has never released the 'pro' version of new tech before releasing a 'consumer' variant first. So if the pattern follows, this is the 'consumer' mirrorless camera that should be followed (hopefully) by a higher end model...time (and marketing) will tell.

Nice that Canon "gets it" with lens caps finally. I take it for granted now that I'll have to spend an extra $10 for a Canon lens to put a functional cap on it. But I won't buy Canon center-pinch caps: I kind of enjoy putting Nikon caps on my Canon lenses

But it will still be APS-C, it's never going to be a FF because they never intended for lenses to take FF. I'm sorry but it's silly for people to think canon was going to release a FF MILC when nobody else has bothered, they want a mass-consumer camera, FF wont allow that.
