Depp, they are all interesting including your hummers , they are all different, some are more creatively bent, some are more technical. Vision and themes vary from one to another, and so do gears deployed.

That is why I think one should be reluctant to single out any particular contribution.

Yup... "some" as I used it, is an all encompassing wide brush.....

Oldest son and middle daughter after a race back east in Rhode Island(my son,a Coast Guard lifer was stationed in Woods Hole at the time)...my daughter who taught sailing down east in Maine at the time of this photo, later became a college sailing coach at Connecticut University, she later became head sailing coach at Vanderbilt and still later coached the Anguilla sailing team from a bottom tier program in the Caribbean, to a top tier in two years...she now plies her skills on San Francisco Bay.

Great shots guys!! One or two needs to ease up on the Vibrance slider though.

Hehehe, guilty . I just love the vibrance slider so much though. I love the way it slides and makes the colors go completely nuts. Maybe it's to cover up how un-colorful I am .

Brian, I think that's the name of it. I got to my hotel in Lake Tahoe at like 2:00AM quickly googled where to shoot at sunrise and went there only 2 hours later. It's Emerald bay, I know that much!

I have a few more in my flickr!

Lake Tahoe was INCREDIBLE.

Hey Will,

You had better get some of those mounted/framed and put up in your parents home .

Beautiful Work...what an amazing journey for you! And Emerald Bay & the Nevada side are A+++; I play some serious poker at Harvey's

Edd, thanks for the kind words. I'm actually moving from NJ to Chicago as I just graduated college and start work full time as an engineer in August. I plan on having some of my favorites printed on metal!

I'm pretty happy with how my abilities (in camera and on computer) have improved over the course of a year since I began shooting last July as I am entirely self taught. I like the micro-contrast and "saturated-but-not-microwaved" look and think I'm getting there. Of course there's always room for improvement.

It certainly was an awesome 8000 mile road trip, the US is ******* awesome. The NJ bubble that I grew up in doesn't do it any justice.

Will,

I wish every young person could spend some time and travel across North America, and sample what is out there. We do live & work in a great place...

Best wishes on the graduation, the move, and new job! And a big welcome to the engineering community; there really is life after B.S., M.S., and Ph.D...

My dad would tell me stories of when he used to water skii in that bay before it was closed off to wake traffic. Just outside of the bay is an area called Rubicon (sp) and that is where I learned. Very very clear overlooking huge boulders. Thanks again for sharing and bringing back some great memories!!

Yeah an amazing place. Must have been an astounding trip.

I'm so glad I've hit nearly everyone one of the lower 48 (all but a few in the Deep South, no Mississippi, South Carolina, Louisiana or Alabama yet), much, thanks to wonderful, long summer family vacations.

(OTOH, those outside the Jersey bubble tend to have a somewhat distorted view, imagining "Jersey Shore" and the northern, industrial part of the Turnpike as pretty much it. First correction: nobody on the cast of Jersey Shore is actually from the Jersey shore (or Jersey suburbs) and I don't think more than a single one of them, ever, has even been from anywhere in NJ at all and that SP episode about NJ where they kept going "it's a jersey thing", no, no it's really not, nobody from here I talked to had the remotest clue what they were going on about or had ever heard the 'Jersey' slang they used in their life. )

@ Will...WOW, big beautiful landscapes...that pano is incredible

@ Peter, now that's a big beautiful swan, fantastic shot!

I've been looking over your 7D shots and I'm impressed...I was going to snag one but budget only allowed for a used 50D...we've gotta pond with plenty of ducks, swans n such just a bit south of me, think I'll put my 300L on the 50D and see what happens...wonder if there will be a huge difference between 15 and 18MP?!...we'll see
