Thank you, Jerry, I prefer the file cleanliness of 40D over 7D.
In fact, I think 1DMkII(N) is a significantly better camera than either of those.
I think you'll be fine with either 40D or 50D, and then 5DMkII or MkIII would be a great next step.
PK the Mindreader...I indeed see a 5D3 or 4 in my future
I'm seriously re-thinking things, read a post awhile back, to paraphrase "...why keep gear on a shelf gathering dust..." and it makes a ton of sense. My older, near never used, film gear(s) are tucked away in a box, even my EOS-3s rarely have been out since 07. Perhaps it's time to let go past memories (may keep my original A-1 kit; 24, 35, 50 and 200 mac...bought them just after my injury in 78) and let go the rest. Then again, one EOS-3 and my current gears/lenses will do just fine when I feel the need to Velvia or Pan F...then again maybe I can reproduce my "Bird on Fire" shot with digital; FF digital
Noticed a few bees in the garden tonight and they're moving faster than I am right now! Gotta shake off the rust. The 3rd image is a monarch chrysalis that I will also post in the macro thread; we've been watching these evolve for about the past two weeks and it's fascinating! You can see that the transformation is nearly complete. I hope to be there when the butterfly emerges but with my luck it will happen tomorrow while I'm at work...

Thats a great set Will, my favourite being the B&W. Good luck with the job - as Edd said, its nice to see folk getting jobs in the current world economic climate.
Peter - nice job on the swans, especially keeping the highlights from blowing out.
Edd - The back is doing OK thanks. Could be better, but i'm not in the sort of state i was earlier in the year when i struggled to walk 100m with a walking stick. I would have loved to spend some time in the north american national parks also - it amazes me that the worlds fattest and laziest nation is one with such astonishing nature and natural beauty that all could (but obviously don't) go out and enjoy.
Rob - the wedding shot on the steps is excellent. I expect business is doing well if you're selling pics like that
Today i'm going to doing something very unusual and post a pijun shot. This one from last year, but i found what i think might be a good pijun place yesterday so there may be more coming.
If I had to guess, I'd say it looks like Greece. But it doesn't mean it's all local produce. In fact, if it is Greece, looks like none of it is locally grown. Well, maybe pomegranate.
On topic: I like perspective on first shot. What time of the day was this taken?

Where did you go on holiday that you can get papaya, mango, durian together with kiwi fruit, cherry and strawberry jerrykur?
The fruit shot is from Boqueria Market in Barcelona, Spain. The first shot is of our hotel in Fira on the island of Santorini, Greece. I took this first shot as soon as got up, so 0600. Both are excellent places to test a new camera. The low res requirement of the site does not do the camera justice.
These big white pijuns are quite easy to photograph in flight. However, they often cause exposure problems because their snow white wings reflect sunlight almost like a mirror.
1DMkIIN + 300 f/2.8 IS Mk I.
