Just got my D800E, realized it also suffers from left side AF issues... at least with the 24/1.4 it does.
Got out yesterday and went to a local vintage grand prix to "test" how it fares in "real-life"...
I was at a Humming bird leg banding today,, after the band was attached, people in the audience could hold the bird and release,, there was no shortage of people wanting to hold one,, the bird was comfortable in your hand and needed a bump from the bottom and away they would fly,,

I'm still trying to figure it out. I got the D800 while impatiently waiting for the D800E with the intention of selling it when the D800E finally came. I am still feeling it out but the D800E might be too sensitive for hand holding in many cases, I try to use tripods or monopods when I can but I can't and don't intend to use them all the time. I still have more testing. I've had the D800 since mid June and the D800E came 3 weeks later.
