before i "peep", i guess, i should have realized, i was basically "pixel peeping"! i dont want to be judged as doing so, i am seriously in to super sharpness when possible without need for a macro lens, if that makes sense?! Thanks for the link, i'll give it a "peep"!
Looks like some movement in the corners for some reason on the above shot. Hopefully that or you have very poor corner performance on your 14-24mm. Center looks nice and sharp. Can't really put my finger on the cause of the blur. It almost looks like a stip of extreme blur runing down the left side. Were you @ F2.8?

I see what you're saying. Definitely not a lens corner performance issue as other shots I've taken with it have very good sharpness. I'm guessing its a shake or a blending issue. I did blend two exposures so will retrace my processing steps and see what happened. Thanks and good observation
Am amazed by the resolution of the pix in this thread. Very impressive. I myself am not one for pixelpeeping, but took a stab at super resolution with this image. From 5 differently focused images, manual focus, merged in Helicon Focus. D800E / Sigma 35mm 1.4, 1/30sec @ 8
