Its been a while since I posted anything, however this camera has me excited.
This image taken with the Nikkor 105macro is 18% of the total image and yet I can still print it at 14x7 inches. Magic!!
Great detail there. Did you encounter any moire on the fine bird feathers
In over 3000 images, I found a tiny patch of moire in only two of them. The moire was visible only at actual pixels, where at screen resolution (72dpi, like these web jpegs), the image is 102.2 x 68.2 inches. One was in a tiny spot on the head of a Goldfinch - one of well over 1000 bird images - and the other was in the blade of a kevlar paddle where it picked up the pattern of the kevlar. The detail from this camera is mesmerizing. I have a feeling the “san AA filter” options will become more commonplace in the future. It would be interesting to know what the percentage of orders of each camera (D800/E) is to Nikon.
Scrutinizing detail has always been the purview of photographers, but the D800 (I used one for ten days) and D800E also produce beautiful images with extended latitude which is very helpful in bright sunlight. It’s amazing to see the detail that can be uncovered with the shadow slider in LR4.
The one issue I have is a problem inherent in the (lack of) power of my original Mac Pro desktop. It takes forever to go through a few hundred images. I keep waiting, and waiting for Apple to release an updated version......
Wow! A great start to "official" D800E image thread! I'm looking forward to contributing when mine finally ships.
Bill, awesome detail; really love how vivid that bird shot is!
The D800E is a demanding camera, and I think it would be really helpful if everyone would also post what lens they used for their shots, since lens quality is so much more critical towards the goal of getting the most out of the sensor. Just a thought.

Curtis. There's an OFFICIAL D800 thread so thought i'd might as well make this one OFFICIAL too
I think he got the "Good Housekeeping Seal" the same place you got yours...
I'm loving seeing what is posted here and even sent a link to a friend who is going back and forth about which camera to buy. He is a serious landscape photographer whose work regularly appears in the Sierra Club Wilderness calendar. This is the camera he's been dreaming about as a replacement for his large format gear... a real replacement for his D700. Keep the images coming!

I used the 600 f4.0 for the images, and the 200-400 f4 for the video
