Yup, that's the one and it was cropped, huh? Then the vignetting is definitely serious then . Yes, it can be adjusted in LR but to what extent without any other ill effect will remain to be seen.
I am not sure what software you are using for those images. LR does a great job in taking care of vignetting issues. Could you do that for us then, please? Meaning try to remove the vignetting using LR or whatever software you have, post the full size image and an enlarged size of the area that you corrected for vignetting? I fully realize that the sensor behavior will play a role in the enlargement but at least it will give us some insight on the optical performance of that lens. Thanks again....Show more →
You could correct the dark corner to some degree. I only open the JPG file from the camera with Photoshop elements and did little adjustment (mostly resize)so that you guys can see the truth.

When I had the tamron 24-75 f/2.8 the biggest issue i had with it was the reproducibility and speed of focus. However back then I was shooting a 20D :-)
This is interesting. I find the 24-105 sharp at f4 - if this is usable at f/2.8,it would be an advantage.

The bokeh doesn't look good. Out of focus highlights become very distorted outside the APS-C crop area. It's consistent with all the other f/2.8 samples I saw on flickr.
I'd be grateful if you could do a series of tests at f/2.8, f/4 and f/5.6 of the same subject and background to test this. Preferably of a static object at home for controlled condition as much as possible.

I don't understand that you've cropped some of the pictures if the point of those are testing the lens... It doesn't represent what the lens is worth if you're cropping the edges out...

One of the cropped is for testing VC, the other for out of focus. I did not say they all for testing dark corner.

So far, I still like the lens and decide to keep it. There may be two issues that I have to deal with or live with:
1. Darker corner at long end, especially at f2.8 and f4.0. Incresing exposure if possible and correct it in LR should be able to improve to some degree. Or simply crop it
2. Not very sharp at 70mm wide open (still usable after sharpenning).
I had EF 24-105 L IS twice in the past, and if you can live with F4.0, you may want to take a second look at EF 24-105.
Again, this is MY first impressions, neither a review nor a serious test. Someone will have the lens soon and hope they can do some good review or test. I may post a few more photos later on if I find something interesting.

Ok now the new pics you've added are great! Vignetting is much less apparent on the new 70mm/2.8 pics than the garage door pic. Did you compensate for vignetting in post for those pics or did it come out like this?

If not marked as "cropped", they came out like that. I think light and exposure contribbute to the results.
