p.5 #1 · Which 50mm yields the most pleasing bokeh?

50 1.2 produces a great silky bokeh and I would not worry about using this in harsh weather condition.
and then 50 1.4 but the bokeh is not the same is 1.2 at all.

Strong sunlight will play havoc with any background blur.

I like my Sigma 50, in Servo AF it can be a bit hit and miss but I don't expect 100% shooting like that wide open. Ultimately I'll pick up a 50L but at nigh on 1/4 the cost (second hand) I'm more than happy with the Sigma for now.

"The 50mm 1.0 L" it is a Canon lens and EF mount so no issues apart from finding a decently priced one.................. boxed

it's the discontinued Canon EF 50mm f/1.0 L USM ... it works out of the box on all Canon EF-Mount cameras ... like JJ said.
Btw. I'm still looking for that box .. if you find one pm me plz

Cool. I will be looking at possibly getting one of those. I just ordered the 85 1.2 II.

If you want bokeh, you have to be closer to the subject than the OP's original photo. You can't be 15 feet away and expect objects 25 feet away to be blown out. That's when a 35L would be needed to get the same area of coverage, but more bokeh.

This is with a 50 1.4@iso6400 until I can afford a 50L :P

Those 50 1.0 are really going for some cash. Checked eBay and they are in the 5k range.

In the OP, I agree that I find the Canon bokeh to be less pleasant than the Sigma. It would be nice to have a shot with nice 'point' highlights to compare, too...like where the hubcap detail shows up in the shot with the boy on scooter.

has the bokeh of the 50mm 1.2 remained the same through the years? I imagine so.
