Does anyone have any leads on a store with stock of any of the kits? If so, please let me know. Much appreciated!
They're available here in Japan.
Body only, kits, even slightly used ones already, Want me to get ya one? You'll prolly end up paying about $100 to $150 more for it than in the US by the time all the paypal, CC, and shipping charges are tallied.

How about the optional battery grip? I suppose we could look at it as if that were part of the cost of the camera from the first. That's kinda how I'm looking at it. I won't buy the body without that grip - that's what makes it in my opinion. If they weren't offering that grip I wouldn't be considering the camera. Truth.
BYW, I'd like to thank you for all these nice juicy write-ups! Thanks!
About the grip, yes indeed that's what made me interested in the camera from the beginning. That together with the weather sealing. So I have the grip on order and it's supposed to get here next week. Now I wonder where I can get hold of batteries.
Thank you for commenting on my negative reports, I try to bring balance to the world...
@Joseph - Keep your eye out for Black 14-42 kits at the major retailers. These appear to have the fewest pre-orders and the most units coming into the US. Adorama had them two days ago, Samy's and B&H yesterday. H and B digital I think had a few this morning (I've not ordered from them but people at DPR have with no trouble). J&R and Unique Photo are other good places that haven't had 14-42 kit stock yet that probably will today or soon.
Best of luck!
P.S. Mine's charging right now. Ordered from B&H yesterday during the brief hour of availability of 14-42 kits.

Thank you for the offer, but I can wait for US availability.....I think.
In the mean time, I hope I don't fall to the wild idea that I'd be better off purchasing one of the great deals on used A850's or 5D II's...
Want small system, Want small system, Want small system....
My OM-D just arrived and man is it really small but feels quite nice in the hand. I dig it. Am about to head out to do some shooting with it. Here is a pic I snapped with the Lumix 14mm lens mounted, a nice combo! This image is copyrighted by the owner New School OM by Clovermead Photography, on Flickr
That is a very nice looking and practical combination.
Check the exif data; the nex is at 1/250 f1.8 compared to the fuji 1/56 f2 and the olympus 1/100 f2.

The thing is that he 'justifies' it as a camera flaw in metering; but still it would be nice if he showed 'equal' results in addition the flaw output.
I am in no place to criticize his testing method, but personally, I am pretty lazy and rely heavily on the camera's metering. So his result is pretty relevant to me, maybe not for someone who carefully meter each scene.
But hey, the OM's metering seems to be pretty balanced, so that's good, right?
Jman13 - word of advice, if you really don't want to end up buying this camera right away I'd strongly suggest you not meet up with millsart. I've been casually playing with my EM-5 this afternoon and it is an ergonomic dream for me. The dual dials, programmable buttons and extensive customization are fantastic. My GH2 may be in jeopardy of being sold!
Mine just arrived, battery is still charging. But I must say, first impression is good. The build quality is great and the dials feel very nice, and give a satisfying click as you turn them. I was also concerned that the Fn1 button wouldn't be easily usable for back button AF because I'd heard that it's recessed, but the button is reachable and feels nice to me. Only negative is that I have to agree that the strap lugs are poorly placed, but it's the same deal as the E-P3. I'll probably remove mine.
Also, now that I have it in my hand, I'm pretty sure I will not need to buy the grip.
i cancelled my pre-order after a month of waiting because the video mode is so crippled. It's a great camera, albeit small, but the video mode is important to me. 20mb/s is a joke.
FlyPenFly wrote:
No reason to of course but I would think this camera would be much cooler if it had no video mode at all.
Fortunately they did one very important thing with the video mode - they made the "record" button reprogrammable to something more useful of your choice. I don't mind having the video on board, as long as it doesn't get in the way. They seem to have done a good job of doing that.

Damn record button drives is annoying in the nex7 and c3.
You know, I read about people hitting the record button accidently but somehow I have not managed to hit it once yet. I must hold the camera wrong. Anyway, I bet they do something about it anyway on the next firmware update given the attn. it has recieved.
If I recall, not many of the Olys are made in Japan, I think they're mostly China. In fact, almost all China, I recall my E-P1 and E-P2 were as well as the E-PL2.
