I've already sent Henry a print out from Canon's and Nikon's web site showing all the serial numbers for each item as registered with Canon and Nikon on my own account. B&H has each serial number they can pick any of them and match them to my invoices with B&H and my profile on FM.
I am aware of this. And what I am suggesting is that you go that extra step, call up your insurer and have them fax/email your insurance coverage to B&H, and in effect say to them, "ok b*tches, NOW do you believe me?" Make your case as watertight as possible. Send them photographic documentation, even. Don't give them a leg to stand on. That's what I would do, if it really matters to you to prove that you are right, and that you want your place back on that pre-order list. Anything you do after that is up to you.
But that said, I think it needs pointing out that the issue here is that even if the OP goes elsewhere with his money, it doesn't fully remedy the problem, because these are in-demand items on pre-order, and he's lost his spot in line because B&H took his pre-order reservation in advance, only to cancel it shortly before the item would actually be sold. If the OP goes to another retailer he loses his priority, as they would not (and could not) recognize his spot in line.
The only full remedy is to reinstate his pre-order status and put him back on the list for the products that the OP pre-ordered. After that, I suppose he would be more than happy to spend his money elsewhere....Show more →

Well that's precisely how this all started. I've been asking B&H what they want me to give B&H to resolve this customer service issue? They won't tell me.
All they have to do is call Canon and Nikon and verify the print out I sent them.
My insurance with USAA goes with my home. You can tell by the amount of the personal property portion of the policy that it covers this much gear and I would allow USAA to call them about it. But it doesn't list individual items. I've posted about the USAA insurance thing before on FM to back up what I'm saying. I have it with my home so I protected against a major burglary or robbery. It's the cheapest way to insure it with a high deductible. I don't care about insuring it if something breaks. I can afford to repair or replace a single item.
The point being I keep asking B&H what do you want me to send you? And they don't reply. They don't want to apologize and admit they are wrong.

Ah... but the 1% is already one step ahead, wickerprints.

Honestly I've tried to keep this thread as fair and as balanced as I can and so it can be resolved. I wanted it resolved so I could keep doing business with B&H. If I really wanted to make this a big deal I wouldn't have posted it on the lonely alt forum. I would have posted it on the Canon forum which has a much higher volume of traffic and also has the highest number of hot heads that would have really gone off the handle about this and attracted a lot of bad feeling towards B&H. That's what I didn't do. I posted it here on the alt group because a) I like you guys a lot and b) because this is a more mature and tame crowd - level headed I guess I mean.
But I think Henry's reply speaks for itself. He doesn't want to resolve anything. That's a loss for me and a loss for B&H.
Henry all I can say is I have tried everything I can to work with B&H. At least you can admit you are wrong and apologize.

Make sure you take a picture of all your equipment with todays copy of the NY Times or something. Just to make sure they know it's recent.
I'll take the picture the way Henry asks for it here on this thread with dated newsprint.
I support netexpress, let's make a move I just read an article about service recovery about what an upset bank customer with millions $ in the bank did. He withdrew all the money and write a complaint letter to major news needless to say what happen to the screwed up banker and his/her bank

Anyway - it looks like Henry is MIA.
I want to thank everyone for their support.
I understand your desire to force B&H to resolve the problem, I'm not sure posting their replies here will help you. It may diminish their willingness to respond because any explanation they give that you don't agree with will then be posted in public to bolster your position.
BTW, I'm not saying you're wrong. None of us chiming in here have the full story from both sides.
As others have suggested, send them a photo of you with the gear and some way of dating the photo. Perhaps scan or photo of a partially blocked form of ID to prove it's you in the photo? Just thinking that the equipment list registry with Canon and Nikon is no guarantee that you still own the gear. But you'll have to determine whether the effort is worth it...
I don't understand why you still need to jump through hoops for this. Just go to some other companies like Adorama, there are plenty of other online/physical stores who want your business.
You might have noticed that the website has no photography related equipment listed for sale? I think it will only complicate matters for you to try and explain or defend the situation. You should just try to resolve it

I think there should always be someone to speak up about the his/her own disappointment with service quality. Otherwise whatever stores will keep becoming like B&H and at the end what you you do if there is no good stores left to do your business with?
To the OP, I would also be furious if I had lost my place in line due to an unexplainable brick wall. It is obvious on FM the passion many people have about photography and if henryp does indeed troll these boards he would understand your frustration.
But cooler heads prevail. Fred has responded and henryp has apoligized. I think the least B$H can do is re-instate you, put you in the front of the line and give you a nice % off towards an accessory of your choice.
What do you say guys?
And by the way, that web site henryp referred to was a lame excuse.
