I'll be quite happy to stick with the XF lens lineup for wide lenses. An XF 14mm f/2.8 R is supposed to be on the way, maybe for next year. OTOH, I hope to use my short and medium telephotos on the X-Pro 1, like the Planar 85/1.4, Summicron-R 90/2, and Nikkor 105/2.5 AI. I've fooled around a bit with handheld MF using the x10 image magnification in the EVF. It's a bit wierd, but seems to work OK for me. I'll post some results when my EOS>LM and LM>XF adapters arrive.
I think it must have been a conscience design, or rather marketing, choice that the X-Pro1 does not perform better with M lenses. Hard to imagine the designers would not know how to make it more compatible, particularly given the history of the NEX. Perhaps the adapter will be released with a special X-ProM body!
jcolwell - the XF 14mm will be released this year, according to Fuji reps at my local store (dealers show day). But why should it be any better than the 18mm? Luckily, I often shoot square when doing landscapes.
The 35mm is superb though!
ceder - I don't need the 14/2.8 to be any better than the 18/2. It's good enough for me. I'll be using the X-Pro 1 kit mostly to shoot events. I have plenty of other options for landscapes.
A major bummer than nobody has said "April Fool's" with regard to even moderate length M-lenses performing poorly.
I guess I stand corrected on my skepticism, unless Fuji's own adapter has some special sauce this seems like a native-only mount, or SLR lenses I suppose.
i bought a kipon adapter and some m mount zeiss glass. will report back here once they arrive.
i've never owned a rangefinder, nor any alt lenses (i used to shoot canon, with only native lenses), but i'll let you guys know how it fairs with the x-pro1.

so when I preordered the lenses from amazon, they were listed at 499 a piece for the 18/2 and the 35/1.4. The price has now gone up to 599 a piece but my order still shows them at 499... when they ship, are they going to charge me the full amount 599 or will they honor the 499 price?
In other news, my xpro1 is preparing for shipping as we speak while my lenses havent updated at all
Good luck with that. I expect you should be advised if the price has gone up, but you won't know for sure until you see the charges. My original quotation from 11 Jan was the same as I paid on 23 March, which was $599 for the 18mm f/2 and 35mm f/1.4, and 649 for the 60mm f/2.4 Macro.

Amazon are usually pretty good at sticking to their prices.

Shot a fashion editorial today, used a Hasselblad 500CM with Portra 400 and the Fuji X-Pro1 with 35mm f/1.4 simultaneously. The XP-1 did amazingly well. The files are gorgeous. Here's an outtake:
