Is there anyone who has used a Nikon 50 1.2 and a Voigt 50 1.1 on their Nex. I can use either and uncertain which to chose to be used mostly wide open. Even with the giant Nikon adaptor the size of both are about the same, so interested in IQ ect.
thanks joanlvh

I have both the nikkor 50f1.2 and the CV58f1.4SL II. Both have very different rendition but for sharpness and between f1.2 - f2, I prefer the Nikkor. Some examples here of the Nikkor:

pixels are smaller on the evf as a percentage of the total image than they are on the lcd. this means the relative size of the peaking region is also smaller.
My problem is seeing the peaking in the zoomed in image in the EVF. In normal operation mode it is there, but when I use magnification at the highest level it is gone..

That's normal, peaking highlights high contrasts in the image, and at the highest magnification, contrast usually isn't that high anymore. Try it on some very contrasty stuctures and you will see some peaking at the highest zoom level.
Anyway, peaking is there to help you see contrast by highlighting it when the detail is too small to see it directly. At the highest zoom level, ou might just as well look if the image is sharp.

That's normal behaviour. When zoomed in you can see the actual focus plane so peaking is of less use.
It's there in magnify mode, but not nearly as strong since you don't have the contrast increase from the downsized and sharpened LV feed.
I am thoroughly frustrated with having a camera that runs Linux but can't be programmed or usefully controlled remotely. So I'm hopeful that they succeed. But I'd be happy if Sony would just wake up and start creating an app market for camera features and connectivity.
My friends, I'm afraid I've fallen victim to the Olympus OM-D. It fits my needs for a street camera and lightweight travel outfit. I've decided that my manual focus alt lens needs are satisfied with my Canon and Zeiss gear which, despite it's size, is not going anywhere any time soon. So, I've decided to part with my NEX system for now. I will be listing my NEX-7 and gear on the B&S very soon but if it's not against protocol, I wanted to give my friends here advanced notice of what I will list. If this is objectionable, I will remove the post immediately. If you're interested, send me a PM.
NEX-7 with Jim Buchanan Grip
Sigma 30
Sigma 19
Contax G 45/2 with fotodiox adapter
Contax G 90/2.8 with adapter
Voigtlander 35/1.2 ASPH II with fotodiox adapter
Metabones smart adapter (EOS to NEX with electronic aperture control)
Helicoid adapter (Leica to NEX)

If the next gen really is wireless, you'll probably get your wish.

Hmm, "I'm afraid" smacks of hyperbole. I'm sure that's an ear-to-ear grin of pure terror every time you pick up your excellent little Oly.
Make no mistake about it, as soon as I sell it, I will regret it!
Hello everyone... Long time(really, really long time) since I have posted anything on the alt forum. Having 2 kids really takes its toll on taking and posting pics. Although, I still take pics if my boys, I'm sure everyone doesn't want to see the same thing over and over again!!!!
I still have my 1D4, and well considering grabbing a Nex-7. The pics I've seen from it are mind boggling!! It even looks like Jim Schemel jumped to an Nex system!! And I love looking at his photos!
I have some alt lenses already that I shoot on my 1D4(Nikon 1.4/35ais, 2/24 ais, 1.2/50 ais, and a 1.8/105 ais, and a CY 3.4/35-70),so would it compel me to purchase an Nex-7? I would need a wider angle, of course, but would like some input into the Sony system.
Thanks for everyone's time in advance.
Feel free to pm or email responses, too.

Gregg,
First question for you assuming you get a NEX 7 or one of the new bodies that will be announced before the end of the month is are you looking for some autofocus lenses for the NEX or do you plan on sticking with adapted manual focus lenses?
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
I might consider a Af lens for it, but i will def shoot the alt primes more. Looking at lensrentals.com for some lenses gives me an idea, too. but, I am more for the alt lenses over alt. I actually just found an Nex-7 on eBay and got it for relatively good price. Going to the big island next month and I will need something wider?
